The first contact was chest and not head, so the charge is unfair. The MRC can't distinguish between intentional, reckless, careless and accidental. Careless should be maximum grade 1 and should need 2 careless charges within say 4 weeks to be out for 1 match. The aim should be to get rid of foul and reckless play not put the maximum number of players on the sideline with suspensions.
The first contact is irrelevant if contact with the head or neck did occur during the tackle.

The issue is then how the grading is determined.

    High Tackle – Careless

A Careless High Tackle is when a defending player makes forceful contact with the head or neck of an attacking player. The contact must be deemed careless, in that the defending player has failed in his duty of care.

What are the key indicators of this charge?

A careless high tackle generally sees the defending player attempting to make a genuine attempt at making a wrapping or grabbing tackle. The defender’s hand/s are generally open when making a wrapping type tackle.

The initial point of contact may not have been directly with the head or neck, however contact with the head or neck did occur during the tackle. However, the attempted tackle was made in the marginal target area, which is high around the upper chest and shoulders of the defending player.

At times, a careless high tackle may see the attacking player be impacted by another defender in the tackle which sees their height lowered when tackled.

    Final Decision
    • Grade 1 Charges will generally see key indicators in the low to moderate range with no aggravating factors.
    • Grade 2 Charges will generally see key Indicators in the moderate range with some aggravating factors. There may also be some other mitigating factors.
    • Grade 3 Charges will generally see key indicators in the moderate to high range with several aggravating factors. There is generally no mitigating factors for the player charged.

      Yep, flush and with force.

The mind boggles with Jennings copping 2 weeks for his tackle on that cupcake Saab.

Corey Waddells forearm when straight across Suaalii's face, who resented it straight away but didn't throw himself to the ground in convulsions.

Im not saying that some part of Jennings tackle didn't come off the chest and clip Saabs chin- but it was just that-a clip.Even if you slow it done its hard to see the impact point on Saab's jaw.
Basically Jennings gets a suspension because Saab has a glass jaw

How many players have been successful at the judiciary this year? Either downgrade or entirely beating the charge.

from what i saw jenko hit him hard on the torso just below the neck and there was a kind of whiplash which meant saab's head was propelled onto jenko's shoulder. the way the nrl's gone recently they'll probably say that the hit on the head was caused by jenko's contact. desperately unlucky but if we contest wouldn't be surprised if we lose

Complete farce. There is no way that Jennings tackles is 2 weeks. As other posters have already said no action on the knee to Keary and that ridiculous penalty on Rads. It’s actually looking like bias.

5 players before the judiciary over the 3 consecutive games with Klown as ref bunker ref. JWH suspended and Jennings fined. Joe S fined in the next game then last nights game Jennings again and Sitili. So 2 suspensions in 3 games whilst Klein on the field.
It has a stench and the stench started in Vegas and it’s now putrid.

                  Yes very stinky, LOL.

That little Brisbane turd getting all bitchy cause his side were humbled by us in Vegas, and then making a preposterous fuss about banter from another coloured player, and the ensuing media/NRL virtue signalling circus and robbing us of a top player for a third of the season - it all makes me satisfied to see Broncos Ltd struggling to even make the finals.

Think it was Lawton? But the fact it didn’t even attract a fine is clear corruption. I’m seething !

Lets hope Manu is good to go as Jennings will be suspended and Pauga has done his PCL.

Yes the NRL stench is putrid.
There has been only 2 send offs this season and it’s 2 Roosters both sent by Atkins.
Based on info I’ve seen online …
For suspensions we are the most heavily penalised.
A couple of other clubs players suspended for misconduct and Tolaki got 3 matches for high conduct.

The fact Rads was penalised let alone placed on report shows how farcical the system.is.

Jennings first contact was with the chest and its unfortunate that the force of the tackle resulted in high contact. With our record I doubt we get the downgrade.

I'd play Jennings at left centre before Suaalii.

All this nonsense this year would make winning the GF so much more special.

It was Waddell and he was fined $1k
