    ROOSTERS SQUAD v DOLPHINS

    Round 22 - Friday 2nd August, 8:00pm
    HBF Park, Perth

Well, how do you describe that game? What an emotional rollercoaster. Our 400th win in the NRL era. Despite some seriously dumb football, we got the 2 points and are back in 3rd, so there's that. After such a schizophrenic performance, on top of the crap we dished out the week before, I'm hoping to see a disciplined, controlled and business-like performance this week. Please!! I need it. We need it. One good game and then our last bye and a chance to set ourselves for the run to the finals. We have the ability to make it to the first weekend in October - but do we have the acumen? The jury is still out.

The Dolphins managed to blow a good lead and lose to the Titans, making their recent record 1 from 5. BUT, two of those losses were very close games against Penrith and the Storm - they do tend to lift against the more fancied sides. Bennet will have them up for this one. We are playing in Perth for the first time since round 19, 1995, when we beat the Western Reds 25 - 6 at the WACA. A couple of decent Roosters on the scoresheet that day - Brad Fittler, Darren Junee, Matt Sing & Andrew Walker.

Again, mostly an unchanged side, highlighted by the return of Manu. Joey makes a timely return from injury this week, offsetting Jenko's suspension and boosting the 3/4's. Toia named on the extended bench. Cover if Manu doesn't tick all the boxes, or just there to make up the numbers?
The starting pack is Collins, Cheese, Leniu, Gus, Rads & Watto. Tupouniua, May, Whyte and Butcher on the pine. I'd like to see May start & Leniu come off the bench. I think that better plays to both their strengths.

Still missing Jazz & Billy Smith. Consecutive games without our top 17: 119

    Roosters by 10

joey manu a big in. hopefully he plays. this is a gf for the dolphins and they will be up for it. still, so long as we limit ourselves to one intercept, two maximum, we should get the bickies.

I think Sitilli should be replaced by Wong. Wong was the flavour of the month at the back end of last year. What happened ? Maybe Robinson feels guilty because he said Sitilli was not told to look around - but alas he signs with the Bulldogs. I will be pissed if Robinson moves Wong on. Look how moving Verrills on has worked out. Sometimes culture wins out over ' quick fixes '.

Anyway the Dolphins are woeful - there coach is the souths coach.

Put a score on them ROOSTERS.

Listening to Tupou interview on line he said Joey still has some things to get through... sounded less than 100 % certainty to play...unfortunately

With the bye next week I do wonder if taking the cautious approach might be wise.

Wonder if that means Toia gets a crack. I know its early days but our centre depth is shite atm and he has been named in the extended so why not? Better than the alternative (Sitili)

Dolphins are far from woeful, and will beat us, they have done it before...if we're not on our game for 80 mins.
Manu should be rested, Suaalii moved to right centre with Wong playing left centre.
He could then smash "Hammer" when he comes into the backline looking to make a break.

Was only a week ago Robbo said in his pre-match presser that the plan for Toia was getting him games in NSW Cup and making sure he is healthy for a full preseason with the NRL squad, unless there is a crippling injury toll Toia is highly unlikely to play first grade this season.

Hammer would make Wong look silly playing center.

Wong has been playing prop forward role in reserve grade, and you think he would make a good center

It's all about the experience of being a part of the NRL squad prep, which I'm a fan of.
                        Keep them hungry and keen.
Coach has also done this with the Va'a bros.

Wong is fast on his feet.
One tackle from Wong and the hammer would lose its handle.

                          I've watched Wong closely.
I believe he's a back rower, a fast one at that.
                          Ditto Leniu.
We need some size in the team, too many 'small' players.
                          Watson.
                          Keary.
                          Walker.
                          Butcher.
                          Radley.

                              He could play centre.
