We have copped the 3 biggest joke bins all year.

Manu tonight. JWH @ Parra. And Radley @ Bulldogs.

All absolute horse shit calls that could have been crucial in deciding a result.

From memory, the one on RTS against maybe… The Storm? That was the worst I’ve seen all year, I think. The Radley one against the Bulldogs was also dreadful.

This Manu one was somewhat 50-50 for me, considering a lot of the precedents that they’ve set this year. My concern is that if that was a Dolphins player against a Rooster, they wouldn’t be binned.

The worst call of the night was the obstruction call in the first half on Suaalii. That was an absolute howler, and no referee should get that wrong.

Nothing wrong with that call IMO. If it was the other way and Dolphins or any other side was in possession, would you be happy to let it go?

as long as it’s consistent I don’t have a problem.

I would absolutely have a problem with it. No one was impeded and he didn’t run behind his player.

I don’t mind the call from a purely technical point of view because I understand that a player has been obstructed.

My only issue would be that we’ve seen that happen multiple times every round for the last decade and it not be a penalty. Why is it in Round 22, 2024 we’re changing the level of tolerance for obstruction in general play where no advantage was gained?

You just can’t escape the thought that it’s game managing bullshit.

if that manu tackle happens in the 6th minute at 0-0 it’s probably not even brought back for a penalty.

But with the big bad Roosters 12 pts up against the plucky underdogs with 10m to go it becomes a great excuse to try and manufacture an exciting finish

First we had the nonsense obstruction call that was completely contrived from nothing to prevent the game getting to 18-0 and likely a walkover in front of a neutral crowd.

Then when we go 14pts up and get a penalty for blatant escort/disruptor the bunker sticks to the script and overturns despite it being clear he made no attempt for the ball... why would they give the side that's 14pts up a penalty and a chance to go 20 up when instead they can set up a grandstand finish?? They weren't quite convinced the Phins could do it from 8pts down so they thought let's sin bin Joey.

Let me be clear, I don't think the NRL and game managers really care who wins (although they have their favourites), but they do their very best to keep the games close and a spectacle to the very end. When teams are too rubbish to take advantage of refs help to get back into it, they get the commentators in on it... heard the game before at 30-14 down, fox commentary trying to suggest Warriors had a chance with 5 to go. Its a pantomime at this point.

8-7 …. Another lost penalty count which Mickey the antagonising contrarian will enjoy

I didn't have too many issues with the ref tonight. The bunker changed the game with the overturning of the penalty from the kick off which Sutton was livid about and then the dubious sin bin call

Sin bin for a medium force.. it looked like it bounced up. Hammer got up smiling.. What a joke.. That was 10 minutes of bs. We could have easily lose that game but so glad we hung in there.

This is awkward.. were you trying to be smug thinking we actually won the penalty counts, just to find out you read the stats the wrong way?

Hammer stayed down long enough to force them to review it, then got up smiling.
