20 team comp every team should play each other once, play team X at home one year and away the next with a pause to regular games during origin.

Playing some teams twice and others once is never really fair and having a conference where the best team from each play in a super bowl grand final isn't the way to go. One conference could have the best 4 team in it and the 2 best teams wouldn't meet in the grand final.

Merged clubs shouldn't count records from the stand alone years.
The current Dragons and Tigers premierships are not counted in their history before the mergers.
I remember we were in talks with several teams about a joint venture ........ Im glad that never came off.
My brother is a Manly fan and stopped following them during the Northern Eagles period and I would be the same if we merged.

From what has been mentioned the Western Bears will wear a White, Black and Red jersey with a touch of yellow which is using the colours from both teams.

There will be too many teams in this competition in my opinion. 16 is ideal.

More teams = more revenue and more betting ads.

I was shocked to hear that 20% of suicides in this country stem from gambling related problems.

I think there should only be 12 teams

                East
                South
                West
                North
                Illawarra
                Newcastle
                Canberra
                Melbourne
                Western Australia
                Gold Coast
                Brisbane

The conference and divisions will ensure teams play the same teams the same number of times in each division - instead of play teams once and some twice - the annual easy and hard draw complaints.

If they want to really sell the game to the US market they need a comp set up that they will understand.

Before 1997 teams would only play the other teams in their league in MLB - American or National League - Now they have interleague games
I thought PVL has said publicly that there will be 19 H&A games in the 20 team comp. This will reduce player load and allow standalone origin series. Unsure how they will deal with the 18 and 19 team comps on the way to 20.

I agree. Not sure how any Norths supporter can claim this as a win, or as even an average result.
                    No Norths in the name,
                    No Sydney in the name.
                    No games at North Sydney.
No Norths members on the board.
They have the colours & a bear, but it could be the Chicago Bears in all honestly as they’re about as close as Perth.

Increasing the number of teams and operating costs by 15%, reducing the number of games we can sell to broadcasters by 7% and reducing the number of weeks we can offer broadcasters content by 26% is terrible business.

                      Not going to happen.

Or how Broadcasters will react to this - more teams will mean the NRL will need to generate more money from sponsors and especially Broadcasters - I understand in this agreement each club received 17.1 million in grants from the NRL in 2024 which pays for players and coaching staff wages. I assume this will be the same and indexed going forward.

Will Broadcasters pay more for less games and a shorter season ? - Season Ticket holders -either 10 or 9 home games less magic round if the home team and in the Roosters case a game on the Central Coast as well - 8 or 7 home games at Allianz

                          Not shocked at all.

Gambling away your life savings & losing your home & family is no joke.

It's rock bottom aa they come. Not to mention some turn to crime to feed or recover from their habit.

But it's all made ok with little "gamble responsibly" words on the end of each sentence the betting agency use.

Not to mention the awesome meat trays they give back to the community after raking in millions.

True. A very small handful. Let's say a handful if you were only allowed to use your index finger and thumb to pick them up.

It's a thing ay? I've never had enough money that I'd be able to gamble a fark load of cash and then be a semi-functional human being. However some blokes I know get taken away.

Call me a d!ck but I think personal responsibility kicks in at some point. It's a bit like walking up Oxford St and seeing that every second store is a shonky durries/vape joint.

We've gone through ~20 years of 'harm minimisation' where we just accept that people's addictions are sophisticated and they are all poor little victims who need our support.

It makes me a shyte person in the current paradigm but IMO at some point people have to take personal responsibility rather than blaming (for example) tobacco companies and betting agencies for their own life choices.

Note: thumbed out while slamming a Jelly Donut at the Stonewall. Next stop the greasy pizza joint next-door to smash one of their good old kebab meat pizzas.

Im 100% with John Howard on this... https://www.news.com.au/national/pol...947aa6e238a7d6

There is simply no justification for exposing individuals under the age of 18 to gambling media advertisements or sporting team sponsorships, just as tobacco and alcohol companies are prohibited from doing so.
