next year's a long way away and i'm not thinking about it but if i did i'd say it's not all doom and gloom. if you take away injury records we've got good cover for the back 5 - teddy, toops, young, marky, smith, toia and junior. maybe smith and toia stay injury free and maybe marky kills it with his crash course in roosters footy this year. no law against having a bit of luck - or not having bad luck

With sitili going as well there is lots of cash
          around $3.5 ml
few upgrades and odd signing but money there to spend
hard to guess who it will be

only player I think we have need dudded by is suaali
still waiting for that game to show he is the superstar everyone was expecting, average d and very limited ability in attack

I see the clubs position slightly more now. Makes more sense. So in reality we really don’t trust Sandon as our future and therefore are holding back on purchasing a high paid player in the backs ( we believe we have enough coming through & Manu will return ) because we are simply waiting it out for a marquee half to become available.

We do have to remember as well, if we backed Sandon initially why would we throw 800K at a worn down SJ? 800K ain’t cheap.

The panel on NRL 360 last night seem to think Manu will be back. Here's hoping.

If you heard Robbo's interview on Roosters Radio last week you would think that both Manu and Suaalii will both be back.
A great interview if you haven't heard it.

I've heard Manu interviewed where he has said he wants to give Rugby a decent crack and seemed to indicate that he wouldn't be back. I'm sure the club have an idea about what's going on with him and maybe it was Joey not wanting to burn bridges before he starts in a new code

I'd bet Les' left nut that he will be back.
I'd bet his right nut that it will be mid way through next year.

A rough Calculation - Roosters have approximately 1.55 to 1.75 mill left of the cap to spend - taking into account estimated values of players leaving less upgrades and new/re-signings - 6 Top 30 squad players signed to 2025 are able to negotiate with other clubs from 1st November 2024

Talk of leaving money aside for Manu if by chance he returns to the NRL mid season or so in 2025 has a an impact of how much of the remaining cap they will have to spend

Players Departing - Approximately 3.7 to 4 Mill

                        Manu - 800k
                        Suaalii - 750 k
                        Keary - 800k
                        JWH - 600 to 800k
                        Jennings 180 k
                        Sitili - 600 to 700k

                        Upgrades - approx 400k increase

                        Colins (2028) - 800k
                        May(2026) - 500k

                        New and re-signings - 1.75 mill to 1.85 mill

                        Mark N - 450K (2026)
                        Townsend - 300k (2025)
                        Crichton - 800k (2026)
                        *Toops - 400 to 500k (2026)

                        * offset by the 200k Long Serving Player allowance

Players off contract and able to negotiate with other clubs signed to in brackets

                        Leniu (2025) - 525k
                        Walker (2025) - 500k
                        Watson (2025) - 300k
                        Egan Butcher (2025) - 300k

                        Moriarty(2025) - 180k

                        Dockar -Clay (2024) - 180k

Bank of Bondi won't be too flush after forking out the upgrades for some those off contract season end 25, especially so if Manu returns.

Im sensing Manu has committted to returning in ‘26, alas the hesitation to sign a big name centre.

I’m sure the Roosters are waiting to see if Brandon Smith takes up his option.

I feel the Roosters won’t do anything until seasons end, no more distractions for our pursuit to the GF

So much for all those who think the Roosters have a sombrero & that they cheat the cap.

What about the Fox story that states that it's a coup for the Dragons because they fended off a serious attempt from the Roosters to sign Holmes......
