    ROOSTERS SQUAD v TITANS

    Round 25 - Sunday 25th August, 2:00pm
    CBUS Stadium, Gold Coast

A solid performance against Parra last week in atrocious conditions. Losing Watto in the first 15 min certainly didn't help. We did well to maintain a decent completion rate for most of the game and despite letting in 3 tries, defending in those conditions, especially a man down, is pretty difficult. Not to mention that if Teddy would pass to his supports, we probably win that 44-8. He should have passed BOTH times ... to not do so was selfish and dangerous. He could have bombed both tries if Gutho didn't take the dummy on the one he scored. I hope Robbo gave him a serve.

How do you get a read on the Titans? They are such a Jeckle & Hyde team. They lost to Souths, then the Tigers, & then put 66 on the Warriors the next round. The next week they beat the Broncos 46-18. After that they lost 44 - blot to the Sharks. Consistently inconsistent. But, this week they are celebrating Foran's 300th ... he actually achieved this last week in the loss to the Dragons at Wollongong, but they are using this home game as the official nod. They might just turn up this week. Regardless, if we take them seriously, we should be much too strong. The Roosters haven't lost at CBUS since 2016, and have won their last 10 games on the trot against the Titans.

We need to win to maintain 3rd spot. We must stay in touch with Penrith - if they drop a game during Cleary's absence, we can grab 2nd and a home game in week 1 of the finals. That could be crucial. I expect to see us build our game further as we progress towards the finals. We should win this, and win it well.

Jazz back from his enforced 6 week holiday. Fresh as a daisy, he's bound to rip, tear, and generally terrorise these blokes. He's been chomping at the bit waiting to get back on the park. It might just be a blessing in disguise to have got him a nice long rest at this time of year to overcome any niggles and prime him for the run home. (Jenko is also available again if he is needed.) No Watson this week under concussion protocols, and we are watching to see if The Cheese is fit. He's named to start but as with Dom last week I won't be convinced he is playing until I see that 1hr-before update. Butcher named at 13, and Whyte dropped to the extended bench.

Unavailable: Watson, Egan Butcher & Billy Smith. Consecutive games without our top team available: 121

    Roosters by 20.

Bit rough on Whyte. He's been really good and continues to improve week in week out. Strong 17 though and can see why the coach has gone with the players he has. Competition for spots at this end of the season is great.

Id be resting Cheese aswell. Sandon will do well to get through big mins aswell to keep him sharp.

We should win this well now they are no chance of finals. Very good side on their day though so we can't be off it early, need to be ruthless.

good to see jwh back. glad to see brandon named - even if he misses this week his injury can't be too bad.

Surprises me that N Butcher is named at 13.
I think the Cheese will be rested & Rads will start at 9, Nat to the edge, Whyte to lock.
Sandon Smith to come on after the softening up period with Rads reverting back to the edge, N Butcher & Whyte to share the lock position.
And it will be a blessing in disguise that JWH was suspended.

I’d be very surprised to see Rads moved. Likely Sandon and ZDC comes on for a spell IF cheese doesn’t play

No way Radley starts at 9. That experiment is over, he plays his best footy as an edge forward.

If the Cheese is fit then I say play him. No need to rest players yet. All we need is the Panthers to slip up once over the next 3 weeks and we could take 2nd spot and a home game final week 1.

I'm not surprised with Whyte being dropped tbh.
Our biggest issue is letting in soft tries and the last try against Parra and the try from dummy half against Manly were two of the softest tries all year. Whyte was at marker on both occasions. Had NFI how to defend them. He will come back better. JWH will tighten that up.

ZDC on the extended bench in case BSmith needs a break. Hopefully he is right to go.

              Good team.

Whyte would have been perfect to start at 13 in Watson absence. Played well last round. Tough on the kid.
                  Red, White and Bluesters!!!

Wow finally most players are back
jwh and Nat in the nrl side and then Jennings, pauga and Billy smith -yes I say again Billy smith named in res grade

unlucky I think Whyte and even Wong should be there before Nat butch
only guys in the casualty ward now are Watson for a week and also Egan who isn’t in our top 17

our res grade side has a backline of king, Marky N, toia, Billy smith and pauga that would give many first grade sides a run for money! And they could still add Jenko, along with Whyte, Wong and Docker clay / shame they didn’t click early in the year

One thing Butcher won’t do is fall asleep at marker and allow soft tries.

No he will just miss the tackle
only thing he was good at which he had been poor this year

The Titans are a " ass - y " team. Lots of pace and can score back to back tries very quickly.

No comment from me on the omissions of Wong and Whyte. The coach doesn't want Sitilli beyond 2024. Head scratch.

                              GO ROOSTERS. 20 plus.
