About bloody time. Would have been a travesty if he was overlooked again. Finally common sense has prevailed for the NRL.

Being an immortal now, is he in the top 5 roosters of all time to have played for us?

Long overdue, played with the great Souths sides of the late 60 s and 1970 /71 and then with Easts during that fantastic premiership run of 74/75, came to Easts in 1972 and had a try disallowed in the 1972 Grand final. His last few seasons at Easts were littered with injury but still one of the best lock forwards i have ever seen play. For some reason the first round game in 1978 against Wests sticks in my mind as he scored a classic Ron Coote try at the Paddington end of the old Sports Ground, i can still see this try as clear as day in my head, at the time nobody knew that was to be the last try of his career.

I think the story was that Ron wanted to play juniors for Easts like his dad but residency rules prevented him from doing so - he was literally living across the road from the junior boundary.

He is certainly deserving of the accolade
