brandon defended robbo in his podcast - “That is what I would want from my coach - I would want him to stick up for me, whatever he thinks happened or whatever his judgement is, if it came from a place of respecting and caring about me,” he said. “He (Robinson) is a private guy and I think that conversation could have stayed between those two. But it didn’t.”

He was saying last week and the week prior, that he could see us just comfortably rolling everyone in September. Some of that is of course due to our roster, which is extremely good. I feel like a lot of other pundits deathride us much more than Gus.
But his delight when we lose, and his lack of informed analysis when we win...its always just our "rothsta"...is so obvious.
He has a real chip on his shoulder about us and has for a while. Which I can only assume is a slow burn jealously from having others climb the mountain as our Coach when he couldn't.
I watch a fair bit him on 9 coverages of games and 100% Footy, and he has become mind numbingly boring and petty when talking about us. Just disappointing but don't expect any better these days.
Saying he thinks we will win is just him setting up the takedown when we lose. Don't trust him anymore.#We Stand with ourJewish community#

I think as roosters fans we don't really grasp the deranged intensity of the hatred/jealousy of our club.
People in general don't play fair anymore or give credit to others for achievements - if anyone shows you up, it's because they were somehow unfairly privileged to do so. Handed this, handed that; people like you always get the lucky breaks, it goes on and on. It's such an irresistible mental game for people to play, far preferable to admitting to themselves they could try to do better themselves - no, my mediocrity is because I'm victimised by you, who was handed everything and never earned a single thing through hard work and ability.
I agree with you about Gould, he's shown many, many times over the years he has a chip on his shoulder about us and your theory this is motivated in large part by his failure to get us over the line when others could is very plausible.
he claims to be friends with Nick, but I doubt he is anymore, Nick is no fool and knows what's going on.

Regarding the morons in the media claiming that our success is pruely because of us having a strong roster.... yeah, no sh!t we have a strong roster. That's why we are successful. Successful teams in every sport assemble strong rosters. Every single premiership team in the history of the game has had a strong roster. Do these halfwits think it's possible to win a comp without one????

Gould is a great football mind. He knows what it takes to succeed.
But he does have an ego the size of Jupiter. Which leads him to come out with some self-centred commentary.
There is nothing to read into beyond that.
He has a soft spot for for the Roosters, and he worships Uncle Nick.

I always thought we were fairly disliked, and one of the less popular teams among other fans. Never really gave it much thought or anything. However, over the last 1-2 years in particular, and I don't know why, I have seen some really strange animosity towards us. Stuff that goes beyond simple rivalry of general sports.
For an example, a thread on Reddit a few months ago detailed how badly our injuries have been over the past few years, and how we haven't named a full-strength side since 2019 GF. Every single person basically said get over it, everyone has injuries, cry me a river etc. The thread itself wasn't bemoaning the poor Roosters either, but rather just noticing the issue.
I've also seen a great many people who are seemingly gleeful that Smith and Walker did their ACL's. Or something along the lines of "I'm sorry for Smith and Walker, but delighted it happened to the Roosters" etc. It's a really bizarre level of hatred that seems to be getting worse. I don't really get it.
EDIT: Just to add in, my best guess is that it's tall-poppy-syndrome. It's not just that we've been successful either, but that Robinson has (or acts liek has has, in the eyes of some fans) the moral highground on certain things. Even though the bloke is clearly a gentleman and a smart dude, it rubs people completely the wong way. That is only one element that seems to be adding to the hatred though.

The popular hateful consensus, as echoed by Gordon Tallis and the NRL 360 crew, is that finally Robbo has very luckily, by losing 3 major players in one game, received the fabulous opportunity of showing he can actually coach and winning the GF this year. Because the 3 he already won don't count (unfair stacked roster, salary cap cheating, 6 again Canberra (2019), not disclosing to Melbourne Cooper's shoulder was busted (2018), drug cheating as our Poly players had high testosterone levels (2013).
Our side has been cruelly gutted on the eve of the finals, 2 ACLs to major players including our equivalent of Munster and Cleary, and the best the media can come up with is "Robinson had better win it this year or he's gonski!"
But of one thing I am certain - If the stars somehow aligned and we DID take out the GF this year, we would still be painted as lucky, undeserving, cheating the cap, the list goes on.
