Received an $1800 fine from last night. Suaalii or Wong no mention on the charge sheet

The other players charged following Friday night's matches were Roosters duo Angus Crichton (Dangerous Contact) and Siua Wong (Careless High Tackle).

Both are facing fines but will be free to play in week one of the finals.

Harsh call on Gus, IMO. The first contact was with the chest. No intent. I hate these fines as all of a sudden, they build up, and a player cops a long suspension.

Agree it was a poor call. Nothing in it.

Jazza better be wary then, because he always uses his bumpers in much the same way.

There must be a crackdown of new sorts. Some of the indiscretions Atkins was enforcing last night were random.

Atkins was very hard to track last night. Made a very erratic game even more so.

More of the same inconsistency from the officials. As a fan you don't know what to expect anymore. I don't get why they just can't take the whole "interpretation of the rule" BS out. Rules are black and white and should be enforced accordingly every game.

Yeah the less I say about him the better really. He seemed to have the following approach:

                  - For us he made a looooot of little calls along the lines of 'it's not technically hip drop buuut... it was low and you were third man in if you know what I mean... like sure it's not technically a penalty but I'm gonna call one for dangerous contact anyway just as a warning...'

                  - Souffs on the other hand just didn't get penalised for a heap of lazy/reckless shyte, which IMO massively spoils the flow as you've gotta play by the whistle. This included both late, swinging arms to the head (I saw a heap go unpenalised) and giving Souffs FOREVER after calling 'heeeeld... releeeee... c'mon Tommy I'm serious bruh... please release him'. There was even a friendly chit-chat with 10 to go where the ref didn't penalise Burgess but was basically like 'dude c'mon... I've been super nice to you and it's allowed your team to catch-up... please just behave for the last 30 seconds'.

IDK. I get that it was their home game and their 'grand final' with Cook and 'the Burgess Dynasty' being the topic of the day. However IMO we got given some pretty ordinary calls and an HIA to Teddy / Watson / Keary from one of thoseunpenalised, reckless swinging arms woulda been the dizzy limit for me.

I’m still trying to work out why they weren’t penalised for bundling Su into touch. As soon as he was touched the tackle was complete

Fkn Atkins was a nitwit, the newest replacement member for the axis of evil when a spot becomes available

Don’t really mind Atkins actually.. made some questionable calls but against both sides. The same can’t be said against Sutton and Klein.

I normally don't mind Atkins, but he was very poor last night. Extreme nitpicking, and missing other things he shoud have penalised. Lucky it wasn't a Roosters v Rabbits game that actually mattered - he wouldn't have known what to do.

so we go into next week with no further injuries or suspensions to starting players than we had before the game v souths.
let's wait and see how the panthers fare tonight
