Very little pressure on us. People saying we “can” win but no-one tipping us at all, and most people expecting us to get done-in comfortably. Backs to the wall, siege mentality. Hopefully we can do to them what they did to us in 2014.

I think Sandon has a slightly bigger boot than Walker, so that is actually a notable positive in this specific match-up. I think the yardage kicking has been one of our biggest issues against these guys for the last several years.

If we try and go ballistic right out of the gates, we have to be aware that this Penrith side don’t go away - even if they’re facing a large deficit.

Eels and Dolphins in the last month or so. Broncos in the GF last year. Us in the 2020 week 1 final, where we led 12-0 after about 10 minutes. Even if we race away to 18-0, we have to be prepared to go with them for the 80 and work for everything.

we didn't get good field position that game (and still only lost by 6). the height advantage on the flanks is a big thing and if we can get that field position we'll ask a few questions

        Well Mr Whip it good....
        interesting you mention that.

Given our half and hooker long term injury woes, last night the geniuses on NRL 360 were throwing up Wishart and Ben Hunt as likely additions to bolster our squad.
Yes, it comes at a cost however, according to them we have a war chest.

I'm flummoxed that the Marky chap is not in the mix for possible stand in for Suaalli , looked okay last outing. Hopefully Joe is fine, nonetheless me thinks we be a little generous to the Panthers leaving him out of the mix.
Fairly confident we will win this.

I give us about a 5% chance of winning. My feeling is that they'll murder us.

There's at least 14 teams who would love to be in our position.

Wishart would be a great signing. He's so talented, can play anywhere and is only 24. He also plays the game in great spirit and appears to be loved and respected by his team mates.

Penrith are beatable but the game has to be won by guys like Collins, Leniu, Angus and May. Whyte and Nat are too inconsistent this year but I hope they aim up when it matters most. They have to lay the platform for our backline to really take the game to the riff.

its no easy task to get on top of JFH, Leota, Martin and Yeo and then they have guys like Sorensen who are bloody consistent and go unnoticed. If we can match them physically, limit the fast play the balls and being exploited around the ruck then we can tame them with fast line speed and pressure them on the 5th. The first time Cleary gets tue ball on a fifth tackle to kick he has to be taken out ‘fairly’ to test that shoulder and lots of traffic must be directed his way when we have the ball.

i just don’t see how Penrith would risk him but let’s see…

im looking forward to see how we aim up given how poor we were against Melbourne 6 weeks ago. I feel like that ate away at the coach and players

Agreed. Our major weaknesses are Sitili, Butcher and Young who continually let us down defensively. Roosters are the soft try capital of the NRL. Goal line defense is atrocious. I would feel a lot better if Mark we’re in the team and feel Robbo is making a major blunder by leaving him out has he oozes with talent. Butcher is too hot and cold and gives away heaps of penalties and big forwards run right through him. Sitili is error prone too and hot and cold. Young is very, very error prone and will be targeted. Even with our best team we can’t beat the Riff so I’m expecting a very easy win by them. We are just not in their league. Lose by at least 25.

                            Rested???
Actually it wouldn’t surprise considering how Robbo prefers to give players extra time..
                            Ridiculous decision if true.

The kicking game will be important too against an expected boa constrictor defence. The Roosters must get to their kick no matter the metres they are making in each particular set.

Penrith ramp up their D to limit their oppositions set distance metres and often force them into "unforced" errors - i.e unnecessary offloads and passes and capitalise on these mistakes on the scoreboard.

The Roosters must stay in the grind and go with them over the 80.

Great analysis. I wonder whether we'll load up on their right side defence with Manu coming across as another attacker out there?

Respectfully, in boxing terms, we are definitely more than a puncher's chance, as great a team the Panthers/Storm have been this decade, if we get it right... like Frazier over Ali, Douglas over Tyson, the right mental fortitude & a dogged determination to say, today will not be yours... if Coach Robbo can tap into this, anything can happen... OTHERWISE... why even bother turning up? throw the towel in now... tell the teams from 9th spot onwards, can you guys take our spot... if we are still breathing then we are still alive & kicking.
