  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Panthers

It's on again. A new competition starts tonight. We haven't done so well at this time of year for a few years now. Tonight is an huge opportunity to turn things around. We can make a massive statement by winning tonight. I'm tired of hearing we are gone cause we have a few injuries. There is no reason why we can't put in a top performance tonight and win well.

I can't wait to get to my seat in Bay 34 and cheer for our guys. We've got as good a chance as anyone to win this competition. It all starts tonight. From wherever you are watching, get behind them. We can do this. C'mon you mighty Roosters, it's our time to shine and put the competition on notice. Let's bash them!

    GO ROOSTERS!

ps. I have 1 maybe two Rooster Bay tickets available if anyone wants. No charge.

100% confident for some reason that we will win. Penrith seem vulnerable and Sandon seems confident in his ability. Think we are better with smith out and Conner at 9 but would have preferred Leniu to come off the bench . Forwards need to dominate from the start then let Luke turn back the clock to 19 . Go the Roosters

Discipline is the teams calling.Only need to match them in the muscle department. We need ball against them.Hold the ball and errors with our attacking chaos style.Manu is a big key.He has been down in form....and kiss the refs ass.

Do we honestly believe that we have a chance ?

we lost our most influential attacking player and have been in damage control, leaking points far too easily and as the saying goes a small leak will sink a great ship ! Meanwhile, Penrith welcome back their iceman, the best player in the game. Throw in the mix that they’re the greatest team in the NRL modern era, they’re playing at home and we have not beaten them since 2019.

The closest I fear we will get to them is 0-0 when the game starts. I hope i am wrong !!

our lack of discipline and poor completions will inevitably hurt us against a team that is if we’re brutally honest, far superior and they will punish us on the back of knowing we make mistakes in our own end far too often.

I am going to watch and cheer the boys on with every ounce of passion but I’m also a realist and know that we are completely up against it!!

That being said, it’s time for the boys to step up and prove plenty wrong

Nothing like finals footy to get the blood pumping. We have earned the 'two bites' opportunity but can do this the easy or hard way. Not that Panthers at home will be in any ways easy, but I will be confident we can go all the way if we put tonights game in the bank.

It feels like our time. Robbo would have been planning for this game mentally for 12 months. He knows Panthers are our mountain to climb. It's his personal challenge too although he won't admit it.

It's about self-belief tonight, and players backing themselves and working for their mate. Owning the moment.

Would have been nice to have JWH there tonight, but it means guys like Lindsay and Spencer have got to be better than their opposites. Make it personal guys.

Our middle needs to be dominant tonight, attack and defence. Use our backs coming back at their inside too. Through the front door. Don't try go around them unless we have clear momentum and numbers. They'll come for our little halves. We'll use our tall timber three-quarters.

Promises to be an absorbing clash. Go Easts.

For me this comes down to motivation more from the riff then us
they have slightly fallen off the last month so it comes down to do they still want it like they have the last 4 years
Cleary is back which is a massive in - we need Angus and suaali to test him all night
for the chooks to have a chance we need to be at our best, get a few 50 50 calls go our way and hope the riff are off their game at the same time
we are given little chance so the pressure in on them apart from the odd roosters hater saying we should win the comp less 3 players from our top 17 somehow
we have enough finals Experience and hopefully some motivation of us breaking the loss record soon and boys leaving wanting to finish on a high

do we go toe to toe which I don’t think we can or go all in? It’s a free shot weekend but a win would allow a week off and move to the other side of the draw of the the storm and riff

lets use our height advantage tonight we have them on both sides

We need to play the long game tonight. Fast line speed and get numbers in tackles to wrap up the ball and dominate the ruck. Wind back the clock to the way we played in that semi against Manly in 2013 (one of the best games I've seen, that ended at 4-0 to us). We must be physical, we must be enthusiastic, and we must be disciplined.

                      Easts to WIN !!

I have a farm with chooks. In my experience they only crow loudly when Easts are about to win. We'll win. Roosters are chooks by the way, as are hens.
