arguing that because he made an instinctive judgement based on what he sees he shouldn't be criticised is just drivel. every mistake by players and refs in footy is based on an instinctive judgement of what the player/ref sees. ditto the fact that he reacted immediately.
was he in a good position? not sure about that. he was level with the pass but i'm pretty sure teddy obscured his vision of the ball. he should have left it to the linesman
