  • Sydney Roosters NRLW Judiciary News - Eliza Lopamaua -2 game suspension

Following the Sydney Roosters Round 8 match against the North Queensland Cowboys, one Rooster has been cited by the Match Review Committee.

Forward Eliza Lopamaua has received a Grade 3 Dangerous Contact charge for an incident that occurred in the 15th minute of the match.

Should Lopamaua elect to enter an early guilty plea, she will be unavailable for 2 matches. Should she elect to challenge the charge and is found guilty at the panel, she will receive a 3 match suspension.

Is this a hip drop tackle

    Update

Roosters forward Eliza Lopamaua will miss the NRLW semi-final after taking an early guilty plea for a Grade 3 Dangerous Contact charge for a hip-drop tackle.

The incident occurred in the 15th minute of Sunday's win over the Cowboys when Lopamaua dragged Lillian Yarrow down close to the line.

The Rooster will sit out with a two-match ban which will include this week's clash with the Eels and next week's semi-final. The Roosters are currently on top of the table and assured a place in the top four regardless of the result in Round 9.

Huge blow she has been excellent this year but a grade 3 seems a bit excessive.

Didn't even look like a hip drop at all. Huge over reaction.

Interesting that Serial Pest Mahoney was charged with a grade 1 careless high tackle but nothing for starting/instigating a melee - Jayme Fressard was sin binned and later suspended for 2 matches for starting a melee - how many NRL players have been suspended for starting/instigating a melee as there have been a few this year.

A 2 game suspension in an 11 game competition is very different to a 2 game suspension in a 28 game competition.

They need to review this for the women's comp.

There's no way that was a hip drop.

I love the way the NRL can dissuade players/clubs from challenging a charge by adding a week to the sentence when the semis are just around the corner.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Be interesting to see the charges for the two Sharks NRLW players in the Sharks vs Tigers Match - Tigers winning 12-10 - One a shoulder to the head tackle and another a hip drop - both sin binned

Who cares I'm tired of the women's game being force fed . I no longer watch any footy shows on channel 9 for this reason.
there was absolutely no one in the crowd at last night's sharks v tigers game .
Honestly this crap is just a gimmick.

On a side note, how is the effort Isabella Kelly puts in every week. Not the most skilful player but gee she hooks in

Sharks international Holli Wheeler is set to miss the opening round of NRLW finals after being charged over a high tackle on Wests Tigers prop Sarah Togatuki in Thursday night's 12-10 loss.

Wheeler was one of three Cronulla players charged by the match review committee and faces a one match ban if she pleads guilty to a Grade 2 Careless High Tackle.

The Jillaroos second-rower will risk a two match ban if she unsuccessfully challenges the charge at the NRLW judiciary.

Fijian international Talei Holmes was charged with dangerous contact but can avoid a one-match suspension if she opts to pay a $400 fine.

Tongan forward Vanessa Foliaki has received a warning for a dangerous throw on Leianne Tufuga.

So only a fine for the hip drop (Talei Holmes) and 1 week for the high tackle by Holli Wheeler which put Sarah Togatuki out of the game - Category 1 HIA.

yeah, some inconsistency there but we could be the beneficiaries of the wheeler suspension - with the sharks losing last night they'll come 4th so if we stay ahead of the broncs we'll play them week 1. no easy games but you'd rather play the sharks than the other two teams. broncs were looking very dangerous but them losing that 7 rugby player will hurt them
