It's not just a matter of supporting Smith with me Fred. It's a matter of calling you up on your unbalanced, illogical and irrational agenda against him. If I could see a semblance of balance in your arguments I wouldn't feel the need to call you on them all the time. I am aware of Smith's weaknesses and shortcomings as a coach and have said repeatedly that I believe he should see out his contract. I have also said that I am not yet decided if he is the coach to take us beyond 2013. I never see any balance in your discussions on Smith. My own view is that 2010 had more to do with carney's brilliance than anything else - you can see the effect that he has had on the sharks this year even though he isnt playing anywhere near his normal brilliance. No carney since then at our club and we have gone backwards yet again – despite mastercoach smith being in charge.

That is more than just your view. It is fact. We have not had a brilliant player like him since the days of Freddy. So take Benji out of the Tigers, Thurston out of the Knights, Prince out of the Titan and dare I say it, Carney out of the Sharks and they would also perform like busteds. Taking the main go-to man out of a team is going to affect any team's performance. Would that make those coaches crap? The Knights have lost a bit of spark since Gidley has gone. Does that make Bennett crap now that he finally has a mediocre team and can't do anything with them? Where is his honeymoon period? Flanagon now looks like a future super coach all because of one extra player to last year's roster.

It's one thing to say a Smithy is utter crap but under the circumstances of not being able to replace our main attacking weapon and there is nobody else at the club that comes close to his ability, you are bordering on hate for Smithy more than proving that he is a bad coach. Replace Anasta with Maloney and bring in SBW and either Fish/Hayne and next year you will be doing cartwheels and buying Smith or whoever the coach is a beer in October.

If smith was able to get us into the 8 last year or failing that then definately this year, I would consider changing my views about him.
