No I don't and I doubt you do either. I am just a normal fan.
If, as you have stated many times, that you know for a fact that Smithy will not be here next year then your vendetta against him would not exist as you would just accept going along for the bumpy ride this year knowing that he won't be here next year.
But instead you seem to be death riding him more and more each week hoping that he won't be here. You seem more agitated about him being here next year than relaxed knowing he won't be.
    Is that logical?

I'm not death riding him. I hope I am wrong and we go on a great run, he proves how good he really is and he ends up the coach for the next 10 years. Nothing would please me more than having the comfort of knowing we have a top coach in charge. But sadly that is not smith and son.

I have said before that smith technically knows the game of footy very well.

His major weakness though is that he just gets off side with players after a while and he never learns from it.
No you don't. I know this is not a Knights forum but please tell me how you would describe Bennett's current coaching effort at Newcastle? Is he a crap coach or would you say his problems are - bad refs, (no Gidley) anasta, (small forward pack) young team, building, cleaning, injuries the weather. The blue parts I've added to your previous sarcastic dig at Smith. That would be adding some balance into the argument over whether Bennett should be held solely accountable for the team's performance. So if Bennett is allowed to have excuses as you call them when applied to Smith, why is Smith not allowed such a luxury? The FACTS are we have a useless 5/8, the youngest team in the NRL,the youngest forward pack. These are not excuses they are FACTS. Nate Myles and Todd Carney WERE off the rails last year. This is a FACT. If these things happened at another club you would see them as mitigating circumstances but if it happens to Smith they are just excuses.

        • Seriously, fred.
It's really sounding like an old 78 record that's been played a cuzzillion times.
          Give it a rest.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. We will have to put up with Fred's anxiety attacks for another year until Smithy's contract runs out.

bennett has been very ordinary this year, no doubt.

whats worse has been some of his recruitment decisions there.

But he is only 6 months into his stint there. Surely he should be given a bit more time than 6 months - especially since you are happy to give smith and son a whopping 4 years time to prove themselves.

I never said Bennett should be sacked - in fact quite the opposite. You just proved my point. He should be given his full contract time to turn things around.

he should be given his 4 full years, no matter what happens? So are you saying that if newcastle finish at the bottom this year, same in his second year and then say same in his 3rd year, that he should stay the full 4 years then?

Depends what you call bottom. It also depends on other circumstances being injuries, missing key players etc. If he finishes bottom (bottom 4) for a couple of years and there are no major injuries to his key players (Gidley, Boyd, Uate, Snowden etc), or other mitigating circumstances and the team is frequently being thrashed (NOT competitive) then there would be an argument for terminating his contract.

you left out the "weather" conditions unless that is entailed in your "other mitigating circumstances".

Lol!! You were the one who mentioned the weather first. I was just copying and pasting it from your little sarcastic dig at Smithy and applying it to the so-called mastercoach Bennett. Dodgy weather conditions do not count as mitigating circumstances. And yes before you grasp at that statement, our team has been pretty crap in wet weather conditions under Smith. He must take the blame for that along with Pearce who still hasn't worked out how to play wet weather football. But we wouldn't be the only team who has this problem - not that this is an excuse!!

I am not worried about wet weather.

I am more concerned about why our players hardly ever kick deep for the corners, but instead put up mindless midfield bombs from 40 metres out that usually are too deep or have no chasers or even when there are chasers then no one actually jumps up to compete for the ball.

That is down to terrible coaching. If the coach wants them to kick to the corners, they will do that. If they dont do that, then the coach should chop their legs off or drop them to newtown.

I am more concerned at friend's repeated ploy of running down the short blind side all game when the blind side is packed with defenders. Again that is terrible coaching. If he is doing that against the coaches orders, its simple - either cut off his feet or drop him to newtown until he learns not to do it.

                                Its not rocket science.
