I think Smith's time is up but I can't see us getting any of the coaches that you have mentioned. All I can see happening is us going back to Stuart.
but if we can't get bellamy that doesnt mean that we should put up with rubbish because we are scared of who else might be good. As I tried to give an example several times before to people on here - if you go eat out at a restaurant and the food is terrible, do you go back and back and back even though its still shit or do you try to eat somewhere else.

I agree with the sentiment expressed by Ben, MR and Spanner. You don't have to like the coach, just get on with the job and play footy how the coach wants. If it still fails then the coach will get the arse. If you can't suck it up you bail. It's a simple concept.
As for the constant bleeting about Bellyache, sure he's a very good coach, but why would he want to come here??? Why would any good coach risk coming here, we are a sack happy club, from the fans to the suits.
Maybe the reactive Gallop should be our next coach, he'd fit the clubs MO to a MsTee.
If the dressing room loss thingy (another farking cliche) is true nothing can stop the slide. Again our club is being dictated to by individuals and I'm sure we will be reactive to their whinging. This clubs soooooooo soft it's not funny. I thought we had started to rise above the soft attitude, but again it's tanty up, sack everyone, start again, fix nothing, DeJaPoo shit. Nothing ever changes no one learns from the past. Mental peas.

the players do not deserve criticism here. its not just a few individuals.
its unfortunate that many of you are so quick to blame players but let turn a blind eye to whether the coach is not the right person for the job. it wont be cross any of your minds that that is a possibility.
and you are right, the slide will be hard to stop for the rest of this year no matter how hard the players try for each other.

Youth, inexperience, injuries, player attitudes, skill levels DO play a role but you just brush them off as excuses.

The bloke doesn't get it. I reckon you could count on one hand the posters on this site who reckon Smiff is the answer as our long term coach. But what we have all been saying is there are other valid reasons for last years and this years form to consider before we just sack Smiff. And I think most would like to see a coach at least finish his term, after all Smiff was signed for 4 seasons, that's our doing as a club, I believe we should honor that deal.
In saying that IF a better option becomes available, someone who can take control, then the early pay out is always possible. But IMO a coach deserves FULL control over selections and recruitment and retention etc. Then they can be judged if it's not working. I'm yet to be assured that Smiff, or the coaches before him at the club have had that structure or set up.
The clubs soft underbelly is showing again.

Fred, you know what the really sad thing is. When we get another coach, whoever it may be, sooner rather than later you will come out with the same negative crap, only the name will change.
No matter who he is and no matter what his reputation, you will be true to form and bitch and whinge like you always do and have done for years.
It's a neverending story, and it's become a bloody boring one it's been going on for so long.

You pin the coach (whoever that is - be it Smith or someone else) to 100% of the blame when a team doesn't reach your exacting standards. I think it's necessary to look at all variables (including the weather if you insist) when examining these things. As an example if I was your boss, I would give you a fair hearing and look at all the circumstances when making a decision on whether you were the sole reason to blame for all the staff whinging to me about you. If you were my boss I would be sacked with no recall. And I have been in a management position such as this in my own work experience! I believe you need to open your eyes to the possibility that while Smith may be a pain to work with in some areas, he is still worth keeping on till his contract expires as we don't live in a perfect world with no injuries, no rep duty call ups, no perfect refs etc etc etc
but let me ask you this - if a coach (whoever it may be) has lost the large majority of the dressing room, hypothetically speaking of course, then you still think its appropriate to stick by the coach?

Smith has done the job he was brought here to do, he has cleaned out a lot of the dead wood/perceived trouble makers from the squad and put a focus on our junior talent, however it seems things have reached a point where the squad is no longer receptive to his coaching methods, there are very few players that have shown development over the last 12 months and in many cases have gone backwards.
the question needs to be asked now is he the right man to take this squad forward
unfortunately due to the salary cap era it is virtually impossible to re-shape a playing squad in quick time and it is quite often the coach that goes when things are not working out.
it seems the playing group are still playing for each other but there must be question as to whether they are playing for Smith and his gameplan, this is both a credit/failure on Smiths part, its great the players are sticking together and its proof that recruitment is heading in the right direction, with a few obvious parts still needed.
the way things are shaking out it is a very important six weeks for the club, be very affraid if Stuart is not coaching the Raiders in six weeks time as all indications is Uncle Nick could be about to make another very poor coaching appointment.

I believe it is appropriate to look at all the factors in why the coach has supposedly lost the dressing room - and I HATE that saying BTW. It may well be simply that the team is losing morale / motivation because the team keeps losing despite playing very well. It may be a disgruntled captain who has the shits because the coach didn't want him anymore and he's playing the players off against the coach. It may be that they are sick of annoying text messages keeping them awake at night. I believe it's important to give the coach a fair hearing and not assume that the players are the only ones in the right.I also believe if we were in the 8 and had a few 50/50 things go our way we wouldn't even be talking about this!
