  • Mason &Myles....

.... will have to be our pillars of the pack next year, now that O'Meley and Fitz and Shack and Soli will not be there anymore.

Sa, FPN, Cherrington, Aubs, Anasta and Paea will have to lift and support those two for us to succeed next year.

I am looking forward to see FPN and Cherrington continue to develop, and young Jones and Symonds and Pearce went very well ( except for Mitch's stupid grubber).

Whenever Friend was on the field we seemed to have more thrust in the forwards. Wit Mini returning, I'd put him on th wing and keep Perret at FB, he has been going quite well.

I swear I WILL NOT watch another Roosters' game this year if Earl is selected to play. SKD makes errors, but at least he fkn triesto do something! Earl is just a useless waste of a Roosters jumper that would look better on Artie out there.

I never understood why he got a shot before Towers.

As for Nate and Willie well they need to lift their workrates in attack... both players are averaging on just around 100 metres a game which is solid but the very best (which they are) average 120+ metres per game.

      Price - 160
      Civoncieva - 140
      Bailey - 140
      Gallen - 130
      Watmough - 130
      laffranchi - 130

We have the two worst wingers in the comp. Add to that the worst centre pairing, however Symonds shows promise.

We haven't had a decent wing for 5 years. All have been slow and can't defend. Even Sammy was crap out there when Mini was playing. Then we get rid of players like Winterstein. FMD!!!!

Aubusson in the centres does his role, when given good ball like he was given in 2008 and the backend on 2007, he can be very effective 15-20 metres out. Jones seems to be flourishing in the backline too. The beauty of it is that either of these players could shift out of the centres and still be able to find a spot somewhere else in the team due to their versatility.

              The keys will be:

              - Paea and Myles in the frontrow (our two most experienced and effective props)
              - Mason, Conn and Anasta in the backrow (Mason to play the explosive role, Conn to play the Fitzgibbon role, and Anasta to chime in as a 3rd half)
              - Minichiello at fullback

Those are our most experienced players. The rest are all rookies essentially. We will have a very young bench comprising of something like Friend, Symonds, Cherrington and Nuuausala. The wingers in SKD and Perrett might have issues with handling, but both get involved plenty and can sniff out a try - we just need Perrett sometimes switching to fullback to take pressure off Mini, and SKD to be shown how to play safety first football.

The biggest question marks, are our centres, and our halves. While Aubusson, Jones, Symonds and Sa can all fill in at centre and do alright, none are really genuine centres IMO - the closest to being a genuine centre is Jones who plays a lot like a skinnier version of Jamie Lyon (ballplaying support centre). We need a centre with enough size AND speed to finish backline movements consistently. Aubusson, Sa and Symonds are clearly more suited as wide running backrowers as they don't have much speed, but there is no harm in one of them playing centres, while Jones is quick but lacks real size. This issue was left with us by Soliola, who we banked on as our strike centre after the loss of Cross and Monas. Winterstein may be inconsistent but he is a hell of a finisher, with the right balance of speed and size. This is where guys like Blair, Williamson, and new purchases Du Plessis (SA Rugby) and Leilua (Dragons) need to really step up.

We have a lot of versatile players in the team who can play a fair few positions. We need to find some one position, tell them why that is the position you want them to be in and what attributes they have to make that position their own and how it helps the overall scheme of the team being succesful. There's too many 'Mr Fix-Its' in the team and that's a bad thing.

Compare the minutes they play to our guys, sitting off for 30 mins a match does not help momentum
