Ghabra the Lawyer for NAS is saying that Lindsay Collins has left the field 11 times for HIA's in 131 matches - maybe saying Collins is prone to head knocks - now saying the speed Collins was running at gave the defenders little time to adjust their height

      Interesting take

7.43pm If player Asofa-Solomona bent his back he was at risk of clashing heads with player Katoa or clashing heads with player Collins,” Ghabar said. “Player Collins didn’t raise his bumpers to protect himself.

“In terms of generating force, player Collins in my respectful submission was responsible for that. Player Collins was coming at a great speed and he didn’t take action to protect himself, which is unfortunate.

7.38pm Analysing video footage of the incident, Ghabar said the speed at which Collins was running gave the defenders little time to adjust their height.

7.32pm Ghabar told the hearing that Collins has left the field for a HIA on 11 occasions in 131 matches.

Will the JWH bumper bars become legal as a protection method when running the ball up to the D line from kick offs etc

In a way I hope the NRL downgrades his charge from grade 3 to grade 1 and lets him play.

Cognitively, it will give me peace of mind that my impressions the NRL is rigged and there is no level playing field are confirmed.

Don't forget all the 3 and 4 week suspensions JWH got this year when the "victim" didn't even leave the field.

7.55pm In response, Gyles said that the Holmes case had not come before the judiciary as he pleaded guilty so wasn’t a comparison. He said that force was generated by both players.

Mitigating circumstances perhaps - Gyles giving the NAS Case a leg up ?

8.00pm Judiciary chair Geoffrey Bellew is now giving instructions. He told panel members Bob Lindner and Paul Simpkins that it was up to them to determine the grading of the tackle based upon the evidence. “What is not the issue is whether or not this player plays in a grand final. That is not relevant. You simply treat this like any other case,” Bellew said. “Finally in terms of the comparable incident you should strive for consistency. If you determine the Holmes tackle was inappropriately graded you should ignore it.”

I think NAS has a 50 50 chance for a down grade - whether it's to a grade 1 is to be seen

Yes, guilty, and banned for 5 matches.
                  Sanity prevailed at the judiciary.

Good - I appreciate the consistency this season. It's burned us but they seem to have made it clear that all high contact will result in a suspension.

However, IMO this now raises the question of why it wasn't a send-off.

Don't give a fark about whether the Storm or the Pamfers win. HOWEVER... we were up 6-0 against the Storm and had ALL the momentum when they were down to 12 men, with NAS off the field.

Hate to say it but grade 3 contact is a send-off, not a sin-bin. NSW lost game one of Origin (and almost the series) under similar circumstances. The Storm received a SIGNIFICANT leg-up against us as they were allowed to play 70 minutes with all 17 players despite a grade 3 that rubbed a Kangaroos prop and a professional foul that did not result in a sin-bin.

                      Go hard Anusley

We lose a rep quality player in the opening minute of a preliminary final and these pricks have the hide to waste everyones time and contest the grading. FFS!

From the chicken wing tackle, grapple tackle and all the other wrestling moves they've introduced to the game right through to rorting to salary cap. They are a stain on the competition and I hope the Riff pump them.

And wait for it - yes he misses the GF but all the other games (or most of them) will be taken not playing for NZ in the Pacific Championships. JWH wasn't afforded that last year.
