Top 4 and a prelim is a pass. Losing 23 out of 24 against storm and Penrith including two substantial finals losses to those teams is an embarrassment. We haven’t laid a glove on them
for Five years. Out coached, out recruited and out developed. We are not at there level and I actually can’t make excuses, we have had our arses handed to us and something needs to change. But hey let’s watch another standard robbo and teddy bs presser.

Successful season getting to last 4 and not the result they wanted of course - Embarrassment to who though? Fickle / Fairweather fans whom frequent the site after a loss and none you would depend on when the going gets tough

Sorry mate but you are not the grand Poobaa of the roosters. I have stuck solid to this club since 1974 including the desert of 1984 to 1995. I have paid for my seasons tickets annd my interstate trips including the crap we served up in 2006 to 2009 and then again from 2011 and 2012. Always hoping, always believing and always supporting. it is embarrassing that we have as a club been so far behind the operations of the storm and panthers when we aim so high.
I am not a fair weathered fan just because I think we have under performed.

So much of the last 5 years has been ruined by injury though.

Even when we were flying this year we essentially had our season ended by injury again just before the finals.

What is hard to stomach is the defence.

We played three finals and conceded 100 points.

In 2018-19; in the 5 games from the 18 prelim to the 19 GF we conceded 4 tries and only 1 try (Wighton) I’d argue was important, or should’ve been defended better.

Yes 6 again has changed that a lot and those figures are unrealistic, but unless we can start holding good teams to 2-3 tries more consistently we won’t get anywhere.

Penrith and Melbourne aren’t just brilliant in attack; they’re fit as ****; defend like demons for 80 mins.

Isn’t Boydo our defensive coach……he’s a rookie coach but will need to step it up next year

                Only just a pass
injuries hurt our chances but we got where we havnt been for 4 years making the top 4 and prelims which is a pass mark
Canberra game hurt our top 2 chances and injuries
still disappointing as it feels we may slip back next year with 5 players gone, and 2 out for half the season with limited signings
still a shame with this side we are still so far off the top 2 sides yes we are better then 14 but we have no desire to continue to compete and just fold under pressure with week defence
letting 16 tries in the finals series - the 18-19 sides would be wondering what has happened

Loosing is nothing more that that loosing .If Salvo and co can call that a pass then good luck to them but for mine to loose in such embarrassing way is a fail .We simply are better that the bottom 14 teams but nowhere near the top two and haven't been for way to long .Changes are needed to rectify and return our great team to number 1 where we belong

I think from past failure last night was expected by one and all although there was a deep down hope that we would somehow be ‘competitive’. The problem is not fan loyalty or not sticking by our team through thick and thin but one of not learning from our past mistakes. We just keep repeating them over and over and over again for years and years. And fans rightly are fed up with this stagnation and lack of ability to learn and try new things.

Easts are the most error prone team, the most penalised, the most sin binned and suspended team in the comp. For us to progress this has to change. We need to learn from this and try something that keeps the ball in our hand. We just keep handing over possession again and again.

If you asked me at the start of the year if having nearly 50 points put on us in a Prelim, I would had said a fail…

The biggest differences betweeen the 2018/19 team and 2024 are:

                        1. The Bondi wall basically hasn't stood strong for a while now. As posted above Easts only conceded 4 tries in the final series of 2019.
2.The 6A rule. In PVL's new world order, it doesn't reward defence. Unlike the top 2 teams, we haven't worked out away around it.
                        3. In the past few years we haven't been able to match the levels of intensity, line speed and defence of the top teams. In 2018/19, we set the benchmark.
                        4. I'm struggling to think of a game in 2024 where we put in a solid 80mins. Inconsistency is an issue.

Robbo, Teddy and others have alluded to these throughout the year, but unfortunately it hasn't clicked when it matters. I'm not calling for anyone's head. We need to use the off-season to form combos and really work on fixing the above. Defence wins comps, its as simple as that. We have been out defended.

Regardless of last nights result, we are the Roosters, the only foundation club left standing. I love the fact that the club, players, coaches and us fans have an attitude of playing for premierships every year.

When wax the last time you saw us bend back an attacking player? Time and time again, we are driven back but we don’t seem to be able to do the same. Is it our strength and conditioning or something else? We just don’t seem to be as strong as the other top sides.

In saying that, jeeze the drizz and riff get away with extremely fast line speed. Offside almost every defensive set.

                            It's a fail..they can't compete with the top 2.
The Team now has to be changed.
Next year whatever young blokes come in they need to be fast tracked.
As yesterday proved..speed in defence and attack is the only way.

                              Failure of a season.

we won most of the games we were supposed to, and lost every game we were supposed to. I don’t recall an exciting moment all year.

until robbo stops making brian smith levels of panic changes to our game plan against Penrith and storm we won’t ever improve from our second tier status
