  • They Shouldn't Even be in the Comp.

Another reason why it hurts so much losing to a team based in Melbourne.

You have lost me, the days of the NSWRL ended around 40 years ago and the game is so much better for it.

As much as it hurts losing to them they have been the bench mark for 25 years, they keep producing stars.
Every time a player moves on or retires they develop someone to take their place who becomes a star as well.
I would love us to have their system and coach here, the game changes and they adapt to the changes.

Robbo has been great but I not sure he has adapted to six again footy.

Why? Because they beat us? We should aim to be better than then rather than wish they’re kicked out . If you want to be regarded as the best you need to beat the best.

        What a strange take.

Letting in 8 tries in a preliminary final a few of our players shouldn't be in the comp

Can't agree Eddie. They were ruthless the way they cut Angus and Keary to shreds.

And as mentioned, letting in 8 tries in a P F - seriously utter EMBARRASSMENT.

storm have been excellent for a long time and it's up to the other clubs to learn from them

The Melbourne experiment is a failure.
They don't produce players, they sign them all from QLD.
This is not promoting Rugby League.
They've had 20 odd years to expand the game and they've failed.
Victorians aren't into league, don't produce league players, and they don't deserve a team.

                Go Easts.

I agree with some of the points Eddie makes in his 2nd post.

I thought this thread was about the Vermin!

If there’s a team that was to be thrown out, then they would be the top of my list

The Storm has never made a profit, even in the years they 'won' the comp. So not even cheating made them viable. When Ribot ran things they came close but the NRL has subsidised them since 1998.

They had the entire city to themselves in the week before the PF, with no Victorian teams in the AFL GF. My cousin said there was little to no Storm championing, it was all South Melbourne vs Footscray flashbacks.

When Bellyache leaves the Storm, teams will offer him their first born to coach them. He's the reason the Storm have done so well.

He doesn't get 6 agains very often, but the teacher's pet teams get them all the time, including piggy back ones.
Penalty for some mystery offence, then piggy back 6 agains.
No wonder they get 'all' the ball and 'only' have to run all night.
Easy to win games like that.

Robbos team finished 3rd...without Sam Walker, JWH (suspended again), Leniu, Pauga, Suaalii suspended, best left centre Billy Smith, and other injuries.

They won't be next season, or not in our team anyway.
Sometimes the other team is just too good on the day.
Everything they try turns to gold.

Can't agree with all of this to be honest.

They do promote Rugby League, AAMI Park averaged 21k attendees this year which makes them fourth highest in the league, the game has expanded enough in Victoria that major games such as Origin can draw attendances such as 90,000 which was the highest attended Origin game in 2024.

The only thing you do have spot on is that they aren't producing juniors, I'd like to see more of that.
