  • Roosters 2025 Season Lineup

    Presumably

    1. Tedesco
    2. Toupo
    3. Nawaqanitawase
    4. Pauga
    5. Young
    6. Smith
    7. Walker / Townsend
    8. Collins
    9. Smith / Verrills (tbc)
    10. May
    11. Crighton
    12. Radley
    13. Butcher

    14. Watson
    15. Leinu
    16. Wong
    17. Whyte

Floating immediately around outside of that top 17

    - Smith (Billy)
    - Toia
    - Steep
    - Va'a x 2
    - Butcher (E)
    - Moriarty

Blind freddy can see this is a rebuilding year. We've probably got 2 consecutive rebuilding years to be honest.
    I think we'll finish 6th - 8th in 2025.

Couple of questions for the pen:

    - Is Mark Nawawamenygriubhfrjhwe a better centre prospect than Billy Smith? What about Pauga? What about Toia? How would you rank these 3/4's?
    - Is Steep good enough to deserve to be in the top 17?
    - With the loss of Jared, is our prop rotation simply now quite average?
    - I really like him, but I can only find a place for Nat Butcher if he is an 80 min lock. Does he provide enough value on the edges or off the bench? I'm not sure.
    - Who else is whispered to be signing? Verrills is the only other player i've heard about recently, and that is not confirmed.

This idea might get me totally flamed, but I'll give it a go anyway

Could we move Lindsay Collins from the front row into the second row, as a hard running back rower? He has great leg speed and pace for a big man, he is excellent in defence and out wide he'd be running at halves and backs where he might do more damage as opposed to this year running into the teeth of opposition forward packs (where he never looks likely to break the line). I absolutely love Lindsay, but in 2024 despite giving 100%, he just hasn't had the same workload or impact as the guy who excelled at club, State and International level last year.

As a result, my team would look something like:

          1. James Tedesco
          2. Daniel Tupou
          3. Nark Nawaqanitawase
          4. Billy Smith/Rob Toia/Junior Pauga
          5. Dom Young

          6. Sandon Smith
          7. Sam Walker/Chad Townsend

          8. Terrell May
          9. Brandon Smith/Benaiah Ioelu/Tyler Moriarty
          10. Spencer Leniu
          11. Angus Crichton
          12. Lindsay Collins
          13. Victor Radley

          Reserves:
          14. Connor Watson
          15. Siua Wong
          16. Nafahu Whyte
          17. Blake Steep/De la Salle Va'a

            Laterally too slow on defence

Leniu is a myth when he starts or plays extended minutes. It was on show at the Panthers and looks the same with us

It is bloody obvious Funky C that something has to change or a risk needs to be taken.

                    We were horrific last night.

I would be inclined to start a couple from that team last night in reserve grade to start 2025, to try and shake things up.

When you look at the team(s) put together by some on here - it is obvious we are missing some real experience in 2025.

Marky n and either Billy smith or toia at left centre
bench of Wong, butch, Leniu and Whyte once all players back
Leniu needs to stay on bench with Collins and May starting

Just watched the replay of the Sharks and Penrith game .
I can not but notice the performance of the ref _ Klein . Trip by Rudolf on Yeo no sin bin , only on Report . If that is a Roosters player he is definitely in the bin . The other one is Talakai hitting Luai in the back off the ball , a professional foul if you have ever seen one , no sin bin . If that was a Roosters player definitely in the bin. We deserve to be out of contention , but it just shows the inconsistencies by the ref . The NRL needs to do something quickly otherwise the fans will not bother anymore to attend or watch games .

I would take some fun footy and 8th right now if you offered it to me. This team will be nowhere near the real stuff next year.

Unpopular opinion but I’d play Marky M in place of Young.

Quinton and Robbo in the centres after a stint with the ghost whisperer.
