I remember at the start of the year Robbo was saying that we had to change our game as it hadn't worked for us the last few years. Aside from JH sharpening the attack, our discipline is the same and we’ve gone backwards in defence (who makes Matt King as a defence coach? Never has been one before). It’s not a good look. I think Robbo hasn’t moved with the times. He is still stuck in pre-6 again rules either due to arrogance or simply not being forward thinking enough to evolve. Penrith have set the standard for 4-5 years and we’ve taken nothing from them in terms of playstyle and tactics. This year in particular, we had the team to win. We couldn’t even compete with the top two when push came to shove.

TBH though, there really aren’t any coaches that would be better or even have the potential to be better than what we currently have. I wouldn’t mind seeing Holbrook have a crack but aside from him who else is there?

Really - Can you explain though why the Storm as minor premiers and best so called spine in the NRL failed to win the GF tonight - If you think Coach Robinson hasn't moved with the time then Coach Bellamy and the other 15 coaches haven't either if you judge winning a premiership as having moved with the times.

Coach Robinson has 3 premierships since 2013 - 2013/2018 and 2018 - best the Storm in 2018
Coach Bellamy has 2 premierships since 2013 - 2017/2020

Whatever you think of the coaching, teams, etc. One thing that is clear... if Politis is the man they say he is, he should be seething that we have become irrelevant on the big stage and some pissant club has created the best dynasty of the past 40 years.

Must be something missing upstairs - oh change the coach again the only solution you Rocky /Eggs can come up with - not even the so called best coach in the NRL with the best team in the league and best spine could win the GF.

Daft to say change the coach as who are you wanting to take over taking into account no coach has beaten the Panthers in GF for the past 4 years.

Solutions - improve on the fundamentals - high set completions , low errors and discipline - change the defence from the passive watch and wait to a single line moving forward taking space and time away from the opposition . work harder on these - pre-season is important to implement changes.

Unlike you I am not writing the Roosters off in 2025 - You may think your Souffs will improve under Wayne's World but who have they signed to improve that squad - Basically the same old squad that failed to play finals the past 2 years

No we didn't.
We had the team to battle it out for 3rd, and won that battle....which was a very good effort.

Against Klein and the Panthers Hughes, Munster, and Papen were not much better than our players.
They too lost, made many mistakes.

Want Robbo to win a GF?
Get him better players, and 'sympathetic' referees.

Did the Panthers win anything in Rugby League of late?
Those rules and two referees.

Agreed. I think we're overly harsh on ourselves... Penrith have just won 4 in a row and are a team that'll go down in the history books.

You don't just magically become a better club by sacking your coach (for who?!?!? Who's in Robbo class aside from Cleary / Bellamy / Bennett? It's REALLY slim pickings!!! Heck, the Faders hang onto Sticky because they know things could be a LOT worse without him).

IMO stability and its impact on retaining players is heavily under-rated... sack Robbo and who else walks straight away? Some on here would say Teddy and Gussie. Cool. Just punt your two Dally M players because they can't pull a rabbit out of the hat against Penrith/Melbourne.

What is anyone supposed to do?

I’d love us to be more competitive. We’re witnessing a once in a lifetime footy team. These Panthers are the best that have ever done it. When they won their second I said they’d win 6 this decade. And it could be even more.

Holding your hands up in a structured, salary capped team sport like rugby league/NRL and saying that you can't compete because a team is too good is a pathetic attitude. This isn't an athletic competition influenced purely by physical attributes or unassailable physical or mental advantages. It's a team sport with evolving rosters, rules and tactics.

Whats made even more pathetic is that despite the above, teams do have advantages over others and we are one of those given that we have some of the most talented players in the comp playing for us. Perhaps I am overrating our players as some on here say. Ok great, if that's the case, get players that are some of the most talented players in the comp.

I keep saying it, changes are needed. Not saying a change in coach per say, perhaps a change in attitude. Accepting 1 in 24 record and sitting still whilst Penriff make a mockery of the comp is not good enough. 3rd is not good enough. Using the rationale that 3rd is good enough because there are crap teams in the comp and "we could be like xyz" is also not good enough.

Can't win it every year (apparently Penriff can) but to not be able to lay a glove on the winners is a disgrace. 3rd has more in common with last place than it does first, because like last place, running 3rd in this comp wins you fk all.

Ivan’s managed by to out Bellamy Bellamy by building a juggernaut out of a few key players and making stars out of discards.

Tonights game plan of attacking relentless through the middle to exhaust the Storm was phenomenal.

Hate to say it but I’m done with Robbo and we didn’t even play.

Bring back Fitzy, Robbo to a Phil Gould coaching director position.

Bring over Nicho or Politis gets Ponga.

Otherwise we’re the cusp of the dark ages I fear.

As much as we all know that Nick won't sack hi., Robbos should be on notice.

His coaching will be fully tested with a weaker squad on paper. If he can get us to the top four with a weaker squad plus Walker and Brandon missing half the season then he would have done well. Anything less and serious questions will be asked.
