  • about time Uncle Nick brings back the brown paper bags

what the hell is going on with our recruitment for next year, every other club is going out and adding talent to their squads and we are sitting back with basically the same squad for next year, we have either grossly overpaid for some of our younger players that have been upgraded recently or Uncle Nick/POS have something up their sleeves.

Beetroot face was saying POS was absent from a recent major junior carnival where we were represented by Piggy Riddell (god help us), and that he (POS) was on a 3 week trip to Europe, I wonder if it is regarding player recruitment or sounding out possible new coaches.

just noticed the Panthers have now signed Sika Manu from the Storm, so much for a salary cap squeze, certainly looking likely Jennings is going to be out the door, would make me sick if he ends up at either the Dogs/Bunnies as rumoured.

I would happily send POS to Uranus.. I think he is a myth.. He was a cheque book king at the Storm.. I do believe we have gambled with some big contracts on some of our younger players and why I think an all youth policy is terrible.. It is too early to know which ones will kick on as for every young player who shows a lot of early promise, there is at least one that fails to kick on and it is really hard to know for sure which of those will make it..

Well we have recently re-signed Moga (2014), Hargreaves (2015), Kennedy (2014), Masoe (2015), Arona (2014), Guerra (2015), Evans (2014), Friend (2015), Leilua (2014) and SKD (2015) to long-term contracts. Add big signing Maloney into the mix, and you have a framework for a team that looks like:

        1.
        2.
        3. Kenny-Dowall
        4. Leilua
        5. Moga
        6. Maloney
        7.
        8. Kennedy
        9. Friend
        10. Hargreaves
        11. Guerra
        12. Aubusson (priority re-signing beyond 2013 IMO)
        13. Arona

        14.
        15. Cordner (priority re-signing beyond 2013 IMO)
        16. Evans
        17. Masoe

If we do hold onto Aubusson and Cordner, as hoped, that leaves:

        - Henry and Perrett competing for the right wing spot outside SKD (don't see Justin Carney staying)
        - Perrett and Tuivasa-Sheck competing for the fullback spot after Mini's retirement (don't see Wells staying)
        - Nuuausala and Takairangi competing for the bench impact forward spot (don't see Bosden, Symonds or Cherrington staying)
        - Tasi competing with Masoe and Evans for the bench prop spots
        - Mortimer and Pearce competing for the halfback spot

The area Nick could really pull out his chequebook for, is the fullback spot. Our pack is more than adequate IMO, but we are lacking strike power. Moga is down on confidence, SKD is down on form, Leilua is inconsistent, and Perrett is ineffective.

SBW now that's a priority signing.

I was 50/50 on SBW before but now I would take him in a heartbeat.. We are so short of players who can actually create something it is not funny... It is criminal how we have no speed and no creative players in the team... I think Maloney is a solid buy but we need at least 3 more top quality players..

Here's an idea, Jennings for fullback?

If they can make Michael Gordon one then why not a speed freak like Jennings.

I think our teams full of creativity and skill,,,its the coach not doing his job,,
E.g look at the dogs they looked hopeless untill Hasler came along

                      You are spot on.

Politis can spend millions on players but it's a waste if the coach is hopeless like smith & son & the coaches before them. We can buy 5 sbw but it will mean jack if they have to be coached by smith.

Politis is better off spending double on getting the best coach and then the rest will take care of itself.

We only need a quality winger.
                        RTS for fullback.
Taka shouldnt have to compete with FPN.
                        Bosden better thsn zmasoe.
                        Tasi 18th man.
Pearce has got to be a priority sugning!!!!!!!
                        Moga In for Leilua
                        Oldfield first winger.
                        Leilua/Henry 2nd.

Totally agree with you Fletch,it is very frustrating as a long term Rooster supporter as we have always been active in the player market..
We dont have juniors to rely on so we need to spend up and spend smart, but instead we sit back while rival clubs snap up player after player.
Its a shame what is happening at our Club, their is nothing wrong with relying on youth but we still need to make 3 or 4 key signings to compliment these kids.
I hate what is happening at the moment, sad times

Our current team is an All Star team full of champions waiting to flourish under a top coaching stuff its that simple just think of any1 of our players from 1 to 17 e.g. Pearce,Friend, Aubasson,Lielua anyone,, the whole squad all have potential they just lack guidence, structure and consistency...

We have the team we just dont have there MASTER!!!! yet

We still need that one winger and what coach wants to come here.
                              Its the management and gameplan
