It was the perfect divorce. We had some good times but outgrew each other. He is Souths problem now, and frankly, seems at home there.

I’ve always said there is NO WAY Robbo would have allowed him to get away with the laziness he has showed at Souffs! He wanted the fullback money, I believe, more than actually playing fullback. There is nothing wrong with being the best centre in the world, and wanting to play fullback bc it’s more glamorous or whatever is in my mind ridiculous. What has happened at Souffs with him and the other members of the cool gang just shows the difference in class and professionalism between the two clubs.

As for being out injured a lot, that probably wouldn’t have happened here, either. The less fit you are the more likely it is you will be injured, and we wouldn’t have let him become a walking advertisement for McDonalds!

What I’ve also said tho, is letting him go was the biggest mistake Uncle Nick has ever made. Not only has it potentially cost us a premiership, but it also damn near gave the lying, cheating evil empire of red and green a premiership.

Robbo could get the best out of him at that stage of both their careers & the team flourished.

Since then Robbo & Lattrell have both gone down hill.

I don't think at that stage he wanted the full back role...I think he just wanted to test the open market after already shaking hands to a verbal agreement with Politis.

Uncle Nick then got pissed & he was pretty much gone. ..I believe Robbo badly wanted him to stay.

You could say Uncle Nick started Robbo's & Lattrells career downfall.

This. You could tell we were relatively happy to see him go. Remember we offered him $800k and he eventually (initially) had to settle for a $600k Souffffs deal.

He’s unbelievably high maintenance. Having maintained him and (to Trell’s credit) had him be a huge part of 2 premierships it was a good time to part ways.

The Bunnies have obviously been less strict than us. And you can see how that’s worked for them.

Bennett will bring the best out of LM and indeed Souths, mock as much as needed, but undermining that mocking is nervous acceptance of how damaging he can be.
I have no idea if he would have accepted to stay at center for 800K, in my opinion, big slip up from old Nick.

He had the world at his feet with us
I bellieve robbo kept him grounded but in particular Boyd cordner and jwh would have bought him back in line at times to know his place and the value of the team and club over an individual

he was and still is the best centre in the game

I cannot believe from a professional organisation how south’s let the ball drop with him so far allowing him and his other ego mates to do whatever they want and the physical state he has been at times has not been up to a pro standard
he looked fitter this year and apparently is now
fullback hasn’t helped him with injured neither his physical state
but I bellieve at 27 he still has plenty to give
if anyone can bring him in line it will be Bennett which could be dangerous

I think both parties would've been better off. As other posters have stated Latrell would've been around true pros like JWH, Cordner, Tedesco etc so his bad behaviour hopefully wouldn't have been as common and he would've remained in shape and hopefully injury free.

Meanwhile, for our team a gamebreaker like Latrell would've helped so much in big games over the last 4 seasons, I think with a fit Latrell Mitchell on the Roosters side then Panthers don't go 4 in a row.

I think even though he had so much more to give in a RWB jersey, Souffs signing him has absolutely derailed the club and he could go down as having one of the worst return on investments in NRL history. They made a GF and their million dollar man wasn't even on the pitch. He was MIA due to his stupidity. If he plays, they win a comp. Following that they've gone from comp heavyweight who made something like 7 prelims in a row, to missing finals twice and running close to last. They've lost great players to keep him around.

Since then he's seemingly been able to get away with everything and it's impacting his own performances now as well as the teams. Long may it continue.

Agree with this he helps us beat storm and Penrith a few times in the last few years if he had played
I honestly think our 2021 side would have got their if we were fully fit
i remember us having 11 on the field and still scoring 2 tries v knights
                      2021 injuries robbed us

Latrell's problem is himself; a lot of players far less talented have to continually work hard on their game week in week out at training and in pre-season. Latrell is not someone who would do the same; lazy and disinterested are a few terms that could be used to describe the way he plays.

I recall he was very reluctant to do any hitups from the general field kick returns. Part and parcel of the game nowadays and for sometime is for your outside backs to do these whilst the forwards get back on side.
