May only re-signed with the Roosters in April of this year and has two years to run on his current deal.
He is due to be a Roosters player until at least the end of 2026.
But The Sydney Morning Herald are now reporting he has been asked by the Roosters to find a new club for 2025, with the tri-colours looking to clear salary cap space to make a full scale tilt on the transfer market for 2026 and beyond.
It's also being reported that Roosters powerbrokers don't believe May is the correct fit for the vision of the club.

He was excellent this season. Absolute weapon of a player on his day. He does seem to have a strange attitude to footy.
I hope it is less to do with his attitude and more to do with the fact we have a huge name lined up. Who though? Hardly any big names free... we would plenty of money to play with already anyway.

Rumours are floating around now that the Bulldogs are odds on favourite to land May asap !
Side note: We've either got someone else in mind or something related to his discipline and attitude has irked the club/management and they want to get rid of him quick-fast.

> Sources with knowledge of the situation talking on the condition of anonymity said the Roosters feel May doesn’t fit the direction in which the club is heading.
Weird. Like... is our direction that we don't like carnts that go hard and dominate the middle of the field?
I'd be reckoning this could be code for attitude problems if true. Who knows. His form dropped after signing with us.
Puzzles me a bit that Crichton got similar treatment. Makes me wonder whether it's a bluff to try and fire him up for 2025...?
