If we needed money for a big signing it may make sense but we have a lot of cash to spend - and allready loosing 5 of our 17 making another go who is just hitting his prime at 25 and two regular seasons in first grade is odd! Especially when $450k his value for money is really good
unless we snag a Tino / Haas type of player I’m concerned
Makes absolutely no sense to me. I'd understand if it was a position we had plethora of depth, but its the opposite.

I'd love to be inside the four walls that made this decision.

Not if May is unhappy and unsettling the apple cart.
If he ends up at the Dogs then, well instructed Gould.
Contracts mean Jack Shite these days.
Time to play dirty Uncle Nick .

      • Interesting how angus came out and said he is a good bloke and to lay off him until the full story comes out.

so can only assume there is a story of some sort bubbling away in the background?

"It's interesting because they have lost a plethora of middle forwards," Parker said on SEN radio.
          Have we?

          • Tigers resigned Sullivan now letting go. Different I guess that he didnt play a whole heap of 1st grade.

Could May have asked for more feeling he was getting unders .....but why sign the extension ?

            Weird.

Last year only JWH (Sitili & Naps, if you count em). But over the last few years we have been leaking experienced middles (Lodge, NBrown, TKO & Liu).

One thing is for sure. We are really light for props now. Especially during the origin period.

Complete guess and i have zero inside knowledge to speculate but i wonder if part of his contract negotiations we agreed to look at signing his brother (of the Taylan variety) and have decided against it.

In saying that he seems caught off guard by the decision.

                • Cowardly of Easts to wait until May is overseas to do this to him. Cowardly of Easts to remain silent, waiting for May to say something first, so they can then respond as the aggrieved. Hope May collects his pay, his extension money and puts his feet up for a bit. Well done to Gus for standing up for his mate.

                  • Looks like Politis has gone full Yankee on us by celebrating halloween and giving us Rooster horror stories like releasing T May on halloween...so that we can start the Butcher brothers as rooster props..scarier than any hollow pumpkins.

This horror story / myth doesn't make sense on any level. Bizarre really...

                    • Ok,so...let's get to the nitty-gritty and try to logically work out why the club would release one of the best value up and coming middle forwards in the game when they are rare as hen's teeth now

Off-field issue? No...denied by player himself ,other teammates and even the media...if something serious happened then why not just terminate his contract...rather than the fluff that he is free to leave...or approached to leave?

Doesn't fit with our culture? Why? He is not injury prone like many teammates...or perhaps he doesn't like to advertise woke cars like BYD? Or doesn't like the culture of choking during the finals? Seemed to fit in with our culture for the first two & a half yrs for the club to re-sign him...so how did our culture change in the last 6 months? He gets on with teammates and maybe even coach Guru as he was our only player to play every game this season. Total B.S reason IMO.

Clearing salary cap space for someone else? Really!!!...3 or 4 million in cap space already...we need to fill cap space not make more. Are we making room for Tom Brady? If it's extra cap space then why not terminate that useless cripple wannabe hooker Brandon Smith...that's $850,000 instead of $450,000.

Too many established props already? Other than Collins and back fence 15 min Spence...who else? If anything we need to add a prop not release one..

The only logical conclusion left is this whole story is it's orange tan Illuminati man "fake news"...lot's of that going around atm...$$$$$ for the fake news. Sure he will be linked to other clubs for click bait news...then maybe he magically stays on here..

Maybe he and Rads had beef during the internationals

You make an interesting point. If it is purely a salary cap move, Brandon Smith makes more sense. He is on a much bigger wicket, and imo is easier to replace. He may be more difficult to offload given his higher salary and injury though.

                              • considering who's available in the market, it's an odd decision to let him go. I hope the club has thought this through
