This is the Kyle Flanagan situation all over again the media couldn’t believe we would let go of him and now nobody even remembers he played for us because it opened up room for Sam Walker just like moving May on opens up the door for DLSV. How are Roosters fans upset at the club being ruthless? The fans call for this type of stuff every year with half the squad but now May is untouchable.

I don’t believe May is silly. Knowing that the November deadline was approaching and for sure he would have been told that if he tested the open market he would get much more, a statement like that sounds less to me like honesty than a ploy to get a release. To say it publicly I’m sure he knew he was going to upset someone.i think it was a calculated move and acting shocked was just an act. It’s just the timing. He’s now a free agent to get more $$ for his family and maybe play closer to home. I think he found out his true value and wasn’t happy with what the roosters gave him so went public saying things like ‘ I don’t want to play’. I can’t accept that he didn’t know exactly what to say to get a release. Only how is he going to convince his future employer that he didn’t really mean what he said? He’s going to have to tell them he’s fully committed then why not the roosters? The $$$$ that’s all it was ever about.

A bit of time has elapsed since the breaking news of May & the Roosters... after reading the comments on social media/forums... I tend to think along the lines that have already been voiced on this platform as well, that May & his management might have upped the ante to the Chooks, asking for more $, they said no, & here we are... not the first player to play poker with Club management, definitely not the last... all business... he/we all know his market value went up this year based on some solid performances... his potential is not in question... but does he deserve the money he's chasing, since he alluded that money is what keeps him in the game, & sometimes, just. Good luck to him. Not the first or the last in this footy circus to jump ship looking for more mulah... but no one is bigger than the Club... look at the Broncos... one year, within a whisker of winning a premiership,... next year, entitled pretenders!

This has Gus Gould written all over it,in my opinion..
I have a feeling the Bulldogs sounded May out again offering more dollars,in which his management has possibly gone back to Easts and tested the waters..
Not surprisingly the Club didn’t take the bait and have decided to move him on..
Just my thoughts..

That's not what happened. My information doesn't come from social media.
Everyone, I mean everyone was shocked by the news including Terrell and his team mates.
It was an early morning wake up call by Robbo. Was it Robbo's idea? I don't think so, he was just told to pull the trigger.
So why? It can't be just to cover Samuel Walker's demands, Teddy is not going to screw the club over, the only other guy we need to sign is Rob Toia and he is a rookie.
We had money sitting there and now we have more money. It has to be for Hunt.

Where has it been reported he has asked for more money? I haven't seen this. If he has he shouldn't feel blindsided at all, which makes me think this is not the case.
It seems like 100% just the club backflipping on their decision to re-sign him based on his attitude which is poor form. He didn't change as a person during his time at the club so if he didn't align with our culture we shouldn't have resigned him. Simple.
Can some please post the below article? Thanks in advance.

Unwanted May’s Ciraldo connection
If there is one coach in the NRL Terrell May could feel comfortable playing for and trusting, apart from Roosters mentor Trent Robinson, it is Canterbury’s Cameron Ciraldo.
The May family trust Ciraldo and hold him in high regard. It goes back to his days as a Panthers assistant coach. May has frequently lent on the Bulldogs coach to get him through challenging times, and you can be sure the pair would have talked after the Roosters told the forward he was free to negotiate with other clubs.
Such is his relationship with the Bulldogs that May had, in fact, agreed to join Canterbury prior to a last-minute management change, joining the Roosters in 2022 instead.
There has been chatter that the May brothers — Terrell, Tyrone and Taylan — are again trying to somehow package themselves up into a deal, but that is hard to fathom, particularly given the serious situation that Taylan is in with the law, where he is facing domestic violence-related charges.
Roosters players have privately confided that Terrell has not been a disruptive figure at the club, but they also feel the call that was made by Robinson to move him on was the right one. It is fortunate for the Roosters that May will be able to land himself a deal bigger than the one he was on at Bondi Junction, so he won’t consider any kind of recourse against the club that re-signed him for two years in April.

You'd want to know the reason why a player of May's calibre is now surplus to needs.
Perhaps the Dragons and Flanno are a better fit.
