I'd he happy with that. He's a quality player with that elusive kicking game fans have been wanting.

      That's a good thing.

I know it's not over yet but keep in kind he is out for most of next season with a double knee injury and short of him coming back for 10 games and leading us to a premiership, he has gotta go down as one of the biggest disappointments in our great history.

I say this as someone who likes Brandon as a player and seems a decent person.

I was surprised to read that the Bronco's signed Hunt as a 12 year old - gees how many clubs sign 12 year olds in the NRL - happens overseas in Football - signed at even younger than 12.

There has been no formal discussions with Hunt as he is still in camp with the Kangaroos - His Manager is speaking to several clubs to gauge interest and I assume length of contract and dollars - The Broncos appear to be very confident of signing Hunt according to Maguire and a return to the Bronco's is Hunt's destination of choice

Hunt, 34, said in Australian camp this week that returning to the Broncos was on his agenda and that it had a certain "romance" about it - as he was signed to the club as a 12-year-old and went on to play 187 games at Brisbane. Hunt's manager Col Davis is understood to be speaking to several clubs about their interest in Hunt, with the Broncos being the halfback's destination of choice

Speaking about the chances of Hunt being at Red Hill in 2025, Maguire sang the halfback's praises and said it is something that the club will try to work out after he finishes Kangaroos camp. "Ben is a world-class player and has plenty of experience,'' Maguire said.

"We all know what he is capable of and what he would bring to the place. We will let him go through the Australian space this week, and after that, he will probably sit down and work out what he wants to do. They are things that are a work in progress. One thing I won't do is talk too much about contracts, but someone of Ben's calibre coming to the team would definitely be great."

Payten decided to change the way he played, where he played and reduced his minutes which had a really negative impact on him and his form. He also has a degenerative disease in his knees which has also had an impact on him.
More than likely playing less minutes because of his dicky knees.

Once a player becomes a million dollar plus player the expectations are that you win games and or contribute greatly in the winning of games - when that doesn't happen the pressure mounts on why the player is being paid this amount

Whole list of players in that boat - as an example

            Ash Taylor
            Luke Brooks
            Anthony Milford
            Sam Tomkins
Corey Norman - 950k to 1 mill was his reported contract

Exceptions to this are the following players as an example whose performances week in week out are not affected by this million dollar price tag

            Nathan Cleary
            James Tedesco
            Daly Cherry-Evans

Had a beer with Cheese at the Bye Round Podcast Live Show - asked him if he planned to stay

His exact words were "I don't think Robbo likes me but they have no one else"

If we sign someone else, i think the writing is on the wall - he hasn't seemed to commit to the "Roosters Way" i still see him as a Storm player at heart

This is half the problem, the roosters don’t like anyone discussing with the outside about what goes on in the four walls.
I get the cheese wears his heart on his sleeve but he tends to yap a bit too much.

He seems like a good guy, even smart but Cheese needs to decide whether he’s a footballer or a media personality.

While it’s not surprising, I’m curious to see what they replace him with. While Moriarty and Beniah I have showcased potential the reality is if they were good enough we would’ve seen them in first grade already. Curious if the plan is to develop Sandon, Elliott or Rodwell into hookers

Both were injured for a substantial part of the year.

In fairness to Moriarty & Ioelu (& you can add a few more of the young brigade coming through the system) the timing of some significant injuries didn't fall in their favour. They are young & yes have huge potential, & watching them when they are firing on all cylinders generates a lot of excitement for what the future holds... hopefully for all these young chooks, it's just a case of get these injuries out of the way early in their young careers & then when the time is right, & all things are in alignment, watch them go!

At the end of the season Moriarty wasn’t, and we preferred ZDC. Says a bit. Verrills who I stand by as saying was a solid but unspectacular as a player (looks like there are a lot of rumour about him returning) debuted at 19

Yes but by the time they were fit and ready enough to go it was a bit late to throw them in the deep end in the crucial end of season games. ZDC on the other hand had already been utilised and integrated into the team structures.

                                The Rooster way
back the bondi wall and let the penalties flow.
we have half of it right and I dont think the cheese was ever a weakness in the wall .

there are plenty of others that are though.

If the cheese goes back to Melbourne Bellamy will get him in before pre season to flogg the Rooster way out of him.
