Brandon Smith started every game in 2021 before we signed him. The error was not in believing that we could turn him into a starter but rather overvaluing him in a season where his style of play massively benefited from some very late rule changes that caught clubs off guard.

The error was both. Brandon was overpaid and Robbo erroneously thought he could turn him into a starter. Before getting rid of him, just play him where he plays his best, off the bench, and see how he goes.

Ben at 7 and Sandon at 6 to start the season doesn’t sound too bad..

When Sammy gets back mid year he can replace Sandon at 6..

Once Hunt leaves in 2 years we could see Sammy at 6 and Rodwell at 7!

According to the Telucrap the Roosters have started contacting teams seeing if they were willing to take on Brandon Smith for 2025 the final year of his Roosters contract.

Good luck getting any team to take on a guy who probably misses the first half of the season and then has an expiring contract.

The only reason I would take Hunt would be if he was to move to 9 when Sam comes back. It's Sam's team moving forward and I don't want Hunt jumping in like Keary did and upsetting the team's best playmaker

Other lower value players id be keeping an eye on is Jayden Brailey & Brendan Hands.

If Brailey has all his bad injury luck out of the way and can string games together, signing him on $400-$500K would we worth a shot. Brendan Hands wouldn't command any more than that and from the glimpses I've seen of him he looks classy.
Robson playing style, work ethic and skill set is very similar to Jake Friend. He'd be a great signing if we could jag him. His dummy half service is second to none!

They should never have signed this idiot in the first place letting Sam Verrills go for this dud is one of the biggest blunders Robinson has made in his career

He’s a much better player than Verrils

He’s not better than Verrills as a hooker the issue Sam had was he had injuries which the fat cheese also seems to have. Sam is anther one of our own we kicked out for a Melbourne blow in and nobody cared but the tears flow for May.

Definitely disagree there, each to their own tho

As an overall player I would agree, I think Verrils probably would've been the better overall fit in our spine over the last 2 years though.

Being out for at least half the season the Roosters would have to chip in a fair bit for another Club to take him in 2025 - Reportedly on 800 to 850k for 2025 - 500k at least one would say

By my calcs on another post the Roosters have 3.45 to 3.65 mill left to spend of their 2025 cap if May does leave - only 21 players confirmed with contracts for 2025

Clubs are required to sign at least 24 players by November 1 2024.

One assumes the following 4 players at least will be promoted to the top 30 for season 2025.

De La Salle Va'a - listed in the top 30 from 2025.
Xavier Va'a - listed in the top 30 from 2026
                          Ethan King
                          Blake Steep

                            What's Mitch's actual role?

God help us if that vanilla bore of a man is calling any kind of shots at the Junction.

3.5 approx million under the cap next season?

Putting it that way is intense.

We might be in the market for Jesus.

And if next years goes the way it’s shaping up, we’re probably going to need him!
