Hunt has publicly stated he hates playing 9. Roosters can't be that stupid. I am calling BS on that report, and that the plan was to always play Hunt in the halves and Watson/Sandon at 9.

Hunt has also said he was homesick and wanted to go back to QLD.

I don't see why the Roosters would want him as a half, he just doesn't compliment Walker and we are stacked with promising juniors in the halves who would be pretty pissed at having their path to first grade blocked off.

Offering him the 9 is the only move that makes sense. If he doesn't want it then so be it..

i dont disagree with this - i think Sandon / Watson interchanging at 9 (if we sign Hunt) is the most likely outcome. we have multiple players that can play 13, and i am not sure Sandon is ready to be an NRL 6 everyweek just yet. Doesnt mean he wont be one day, doesnt mean he is going to be shown the door - but i think he will be better in the long run with more time. His is still just 21, and played 29 games (most just a few minutes off the bench), so there is no rush to give him the time to develop.

Id rather he got the time he needs, than thrown to the wolves!

        • We need players that can TACKLE.

          • Hunt is talking to other clubs now?

            • We don't need another quasi 9. It's a specialist position.

Than who are we clearing cap space for?

Agreed and can see him going to the Doggies as they're on the rise while we're looking for a stop-gap solution for Walker/Cheese. However, I dunno if that's where he sees hinself.

Ironically I reckon that's his best chance at a premiership though. Like if he backs himself... then he could get our current squad into the top-4 by July when Cheese & Walker return. From there he could do a lot of things...

Fortunately we've already signed Townsend, who has a premiership to his name. We'll see how he goes but IMO he may be the better fit as he could be more willing to be a stop-gap solution. Not quite sure what happened with him in NQ but I don't think we should write him off as being a flog compared with Hunt.

                  • Reported in Tele today that it's between the Broncos and the Dogs and that the "Roosters' bid is collapsing" whatever the hell that means (I assume "not inflating" - which is good).

I don't understand why we would need to shed any more players to create cap space. Where did the $3m+ go that we had in our "War Chest" from the departure of 5 well paid players?

                        • Robinson knows best. He founded the Roosters in 1908.

The Roosters were rated the frontrunner to win Hunt’s signature, but it’s understood the Bondi glamour club has salary-cap constraints and may not be able to win a bidding war.

Hunt has run his eye over the individual rosters of his suitors - Brisbane, the Roosters, Dolphins and Bulldogs - and believes the Broncos are a ready-made force to help him achieve his final frontier: winning a premiership.

So yeah it’s between the dogs who have 550 set aside for him and the broncos.

Apparently we can only offer Hunt $500k a year - which begs the question, where the hell is all our salary cap being spent next year?
