        Quote from 'monkey boy'

"To the NRL, the Brisbane Broncos, the fans and my family, I'm sorry. I promise to work on being a better person and representative of the club and the game that I love."

No mention of the victims. No surprise from this brain-dead fool.

Of course he should be. But you can't blame Abdo and V'Landys for that. You can blame them for the 9 week suspension, but no jail time is on the weak as piss magistrates. The same ones who grant offenders bail more than 100 times in succession...

I agree. However, I think the broader issue is that the NRL doesn't give a shyte about DUI, drug driving and driving without a license as it's largely a private matter. They only care when shyte gets out and sponsors ask questions of the board...

My understanding is that Mam did not have a license and that this in itself shoulda raised a red flag (possibly multiple red flags). We dunno why his license was suspended but it shows that he has a record of road offences & a lack of remorse (possibly because a heap of speeding offences took peanuts outta his salary, but it coulda been for something like DUI).

Should a player HAVE to almost kill a little girl in order for the NRL to care? Or. Should they have intervened earlier on?

To me if they'd cared earlier on then a proper punishment would be easier to justify as the reasoning would include a reference to previous punishments / promises. As it is, I can see why they're saying 'look it's tragic somebody got hurt but this will be a very long suspension for a guy who the courts have not convicted, and chose to only charge with the most minor offence... so... losing control of an automobile... 9 weeks is a lot for losing control of your car... no charges were laid for GBH, drug driving, driving without a license or reckless driving... so... our hands are kinda tied'.

The attached will answer that question.

This whole 9-week suspension is borderline insanity. Paranoid I may be, but the fact we play Brisbane (and Penrith to make it look OK) in the first 7 weeks makes me think PVL and Abdo already had the suspension time in mind - hence the ridiculous fixture. 'monkey boy' avoids a trip to Allianz for one, but I don't think (and hope) he is not safe at any venue he plays at. Read other Rugby League supporters forums, he is seriously hated so I have no doubt he is going to get his comeuppance from more than just Roosters supporters. Even many on the Broncos forum admit he has got off extremely likely.

One extra week suspension than what Spencer received (for an innocuous name call) so the NRL thinks they have come down hard on 'monkey boy'.

Honestly, who the hell does PVL and Abdo think they're fooling?
