    Three questions

Q1 - If you were Robbo heading into 2025
And you had the same squad this year and next would you win a Premiership, would you beat Penrith?

Ideally it would of been better if you only lost one or two players a season and replaced them as required, however this is not the case here.
The current situation is rare in that you have lost a big chunk of your squad and there is not much available on the open market
You do however have many talented academy players ready to step up

Q2 - As Robbo what will you do?
Go buy some average NRL players that are on the open market to fill the gaps, its unlikely they will be as good as the player they replaced however we might still make the top 8
    or
Fill the gaps in the roster from within with the intent to build a team around Sam Walker that will beat Penrith and win multiple premierships in the future yet fall short of making the 8 in 2025

Q3 - If Penrith, Broncos, Storm lose a player or two or were in the same position as us what would they do?

Still to be seen what happens if we get Hunt. If we do we legit go from 6th-8th to a good shot of top 4 again.

I can’t see any scenario where we seriously challenge Melbourne or Penrith tho.

A lot depends on how we cope the first half of the season without Sam and Brandon. If we can go 6-6 or ideally 7-5 or better we’ll be fine but anything less than that and there will be some noise.

Seems pretty obvious the club is ok with a “wait and see what happens” for 2025 before splashing some serious cash at the likes of Dylan Brown or Ponga for 26 and beyond

6th - 10th is what I'm expecting. Anything less would be disappointing.

Excited to see some fresh blood in the team though, real changing of the guard season.
2016 was a disaster. I would say 2021 was a big pass. The injury toll that year was horrendous.

To do what we did in 2021 with a spine containing Hutchison, Marschke, Lachlan Lam and an 18yo Sammy Walker was insane.

Covid really was one bad fever dream.

This is what impresses me most about Penrith and Ivan Cleary. The next man up philosophy truly works for them. Their 2024 GF team was a combination of great and average players who could slot in and perform to a level that can win them another premiership. Their model is special!!

Perhaps this season and our rebuild is the start of something great that may eventually narrow the gap between us and Penrith.

I think it was mentioned last year, that all the Penrith grades, train and play like their first grade team, so when they do get called up, it is a lot more of a natural transition.

not sure if other nrl clubs do the same.

I think you will find all clubs do that.
