  • Our next coach?

So, most on here agree that we need a new coach/ coaching staff. I want to know who you think can help us, who's available? We need something.

Honestly, I am in two minds as to weather we need a new coach or not. Im not a huge fan of his but I really don't think that is our problem at the moment. Our problem is our squad of players. We have a very weak squad. There may be youngsters there that will turn into decent first graders, but they are not there yet. Some of the young players are over-rated, especially our front-rowers. I think we are piss weak up front. Our halves, especially without Pearce are a disgrace and our veteren fullback has seen better days. Look at some of the other squads like Melbourne, Manly, Canterbury, North Queensland, Tigers, Souths, Brisbane etc etc how are we supposed to compete with teams like that with our current squad, we just can't. Lets compare us to Manly for example. Lets compare our top 8 players to their top 8.

    Manly

    Jamie Lyon
    Glen Stewart
    Brett Stewart
    Daly Cherry-Evans
    Anthony Whatmough
    Steve Matai
    Tony Williams
    Keiran Foran

    Roosters

    Mitchell Pearce
    Anthony Minichellieo
    Shaun Kenny Dowall
    Boyd Cordner
    Mitchell Aubusson
    Jared Wareara-Hargreaves
    BJ Leluia
    Lama Tasi

I seriously found it hard to come up with 8 decent first graders in our squad. I honestly don't think one of our 'top 8' players would make it onto the Manly list of top 8 players. Am I wrong? So we can blame the coach all we like, but we could have Bellemy, Hasler or Bennett coaching our current squad and I believe they would achieve similar results.

Solution: we need to get active in the player market and buy some decent first graders to compliment the good young players coming through.

I'd be willing to give Jason Taylor a go, he's there at the club right now, wouldn't take much just to promote him up. At least the Toyota Cup team look like they have some sort of structured play !
Can we wait another full year for Bellamy ?

We cannot afford to sack another coach mid-season.

Things need to be addressed, maybe coaching roles need to be tweaked, but we have missed the eight now and we need to maintain some stability.

          Hawk,
I'd be calling JT into my office on Tuesday and asking him for his strategy to turn things around in the club. If Smith fails to sack Smith within 2 weeks, I'd make Smith serve the season as JT's understudy. Perhaps he'd leave from the shame.

            Daniel Anderson. Proven winner.

            J.T. as the assistant.

Why don't we just finally conced Anasta has won....make him captain, coach and president. Allow him to miss games to fulfill media obligations and if the weather is fine he should be allowed to work on his putting.

                  Wonderful point about stability.

Stewart will offer nothing more than Smith. Get rid of Smith NOW before he creates any more damage. Give JT a crack at trying to turn things around.. he's been at the club for a while and would fit straight in the Roosters system. He's got the goods to not pander to manipulators that lurk within our club

Daniel Anderson or Trent Robinson if we could get him on a 3yr deal.
