  • Sua Fa'alogo Anyone ?

Kind of taking the piss here due to previous threads and player availability. But in all seriousness with Ryan Papenhuyzen remaining at Melbourne it’s believed Sua Fa'alogo can explore options from 2026. He is a potential gun

I think we will re-sign Teddy for 2026 and are investing in Rex bassingthwaighte but must be a consideration?

I'd imagine there will be a bidding war over this lad.

He can't play next year as we're only signing plebs at this stage.

No, simply for the reason that Teddy at fullback is one of the few problems we don't need to solve.

I also think whoever gets him is going to have to overpay on the promise of potential because of the hype around him.

He's only 31, turns 32 in Jan next year and just came off a season where he was the best fullback in the comp.

We need to settle on the Teddy retirement narrative, this season was the most comprehensive response to those questions.

I can see him playing until he's 34-35 which is another 3-4 seasons. He's the ultimate professional and you can see that from his conditioning.

So can I assuming he doesn't play origin ever again, which I sincerely hope he doesn't. Our 3 byes next year don't appear to have any help for the Roosters around the origin period where we will most likely lose at least 4 players..

In answer to your post about Josiah Karapani, he certainly looks like he has some excellent attributes in attack and is a decent size unit. Unsure what his defence is like but a definite yes from me from the little I've seen? And he seems like a very humble young man in the attached video below.

Surprised how quiet the Roosters have been on the transfer front considering the players that have left and money they have to spend. One thing's for sure; we need depth in the outside backs. As talented as I think Billy Smith, Rob Toia and Marky N are, who knows how their bodies are going to hold up - especially the first two after their injuries?

Agree. An absolute joke he was replaced by Edwards - the narrative was he would be picked if his form warranted - but when his form was better than ever and he was still overlooked, this was exposed as a lie.

Absolute BS for origin and test footy
Edwards would be a no body in any other side
Teddy dwarfed him in about every stat this year
Edwards offers very little and fell away once he came back from origin and injury

Agree with this he is only 31 in his prime still
Had one of his best seasons this year - tbh last year was the only average one and it was he tried to overplay his hand and do to much himself
he will be 33 in 2026 so could easily have 2 seasons after that
we have many other positional issues first to fix over 1
we need to find a 9 and 6 - maybe sandon can fill the 6

Agree with comments about Teddy. His sacking was a disgrace given he was the NSW and Australian captain. He is a class above Edwards in every way.

Teddy had an outstanding season and was unlucky to miss out on another Kangaroos jumper.

I'm not suggesting that Teddy needs to retire however he is getting closer to that point. It'd be worth considering Fa'alogo as a suitable replacement!

The kid is a gun and has plenty or raw talent. He could potentially play on the wing or in the centres before transitioning to fullback. Teddy would also be a fantastic mentor!

It's a problem that will need solving pretty soon.

Again I disagree, I think he's got at least 3yrs left at fullback. Maybe he shifts positions after 2yrs if there's a superstar talent coming through our ranks but 3yrs is not a short term problem.

And I don't see it as a problem, we have some very talented young fullbacks in our lower grades.

I don't see why he'd leave playing second fiddle at the Storm to playing second fiddle at the Roosters.

It's like saying we should sign Jayden Campbell or Tyrell Sloan, both would be in the same position here as they are at their current clubs. Plenty of clubs in a position to offer them a first choice fullback spot.

None of them are going to come here for 2-3yrs to sit behind Teddy with no guarantees that they would get the position anyway.
