  • Billy Walters.

Courier Mail is reporting that the Broncos have given him permission to find a new club with Hunt most likely to play Hooker when Mam returns from his suspension.

I don't mind Billy. He always gives 100% and was the least of the teams problems last season. He'd be handy at the right price especially with The Cheese out injured.

    Gives me Jake Turpin vibes.

No thanks. Another pass from me.

It's easy to pass, but the reality is we need depth and his versatility covers positions we are thin in. Not the most exciting option, but couldn't knock it either given what else is out there.

He's a career reserve grader, and only played NRL because Daddy was the coach (and he's a fair dinkum tool as well), so a big NO from me!!

I don't rate him that highly but on a cheap deal as a back up to Brandon Smith I'd be okay with it. Say what you'd like about him but he was the starting hooker in a grand final a mere 2 years ago and he'd be a better choice than both Dockar-Clay and Watson.

He isn't ideal but he does match what we need in our depth which is experienced players who can slip into the team with relative ease.

I wouldn't mind Jake back tbh, he can't get a run at the Dogs and is a tackle machine.

If it means Watson isn’t totally wasted at dummy half for the first half of the year, then it’s a yes from me. I can’t see any better options at the club at the moment, unless we take a punt on untried youth.

Billy would be a handy backup utility. A more skilful, sharper Hutch.

I don't mind Billy, sure he is no superstar but has a smart footy brain and is half decent.

I am a big fan of the Broncos young up and coming rake Mozer but it seems likely the Broncos will try to keep him in spite of the Hunt signing....I reckon Mozer will be an elite 9 in 3 to 5 years time..

You wouldn't make starting 9 in a GF team, playing as starting 9 all season if you are not half decent.

Can kick and has a bit of flair in his craft (I am sure he has kicked a number of 40/20s).

As JFC has said he is a faster more skilful Hutch and others had said if it means Watson doesn't have to play at 9 I am all for it. Watson is a gun middle or bench utility and probably the best bench utility in the comp so we weaken 2 positions to accommodate Watson at 9.

If he doesn't cost a real lot, its a yes from me......

A yes from me but only at the right price - he can play both hooker and in the halves, a gap that we need to fill for most of 2025

He’s good and we have no specialist 9. Yes please.

Would prefer to have Hutch back
There's a reason why the young and idealistic become the old and cynical.
                            It's called experience.
