Thought it was interesting comments from Payten, acknowledging they’re in a battle for his signature for 2026 and beyond.

Although the Roosters' apparent interest in the No.9 has prompted a delay in any decision. Robson is from NSW and a return home could be appealing. Although Payten has finally broken his silence on the matter and claimed the Cowboys are making their moves to re-sign Robson and keep him at the club on a long-term deal.

"Yep, absolutely," Payten said about making it a priority to keep Robson. "Quality player. Plays big minutes, has hardly missed a game for the last two or three years. We understand there is interest. We have put together our best offer and as it stands, Robbo's got a decision to make. Whichever way it goes. I am unsure at the moment...let's see how it plays out."

I think the Roosters way might have been evaluated in the off season and things are a changing. With Aubo, Cordner, Friend and Pearce in the coaching set up I believe character and grit are now clear character traits they look for…. Step forward Reece Robson

Would be a good signing as long as it's not on silly money. He's a really solid player but I don't think he's a match winner. Penriff have shown you don't need a superstar hooker to be good. Robson is a workhorse with a bit of finesse but shouldnt be paying overs for him if we can develop a certain style in-house.

cowboys have plenty of time to come up with an offer, we would have to pay him plenty more than what cowboys would to keep him, especially when we can’t even offer them Brandon to sweeten the deal.

If it was for the 1 year it would have to match his 1M for that year however if it’s multi year ( 2yrs for hunt ) it evens out to 1M.
