Yeah I could see that. Rooster legend and all but I see it. We could have two Mays right now.

        • Put it this way, I definitely wouldn't be offering Aubbo a cheeky anything.

          • We have not been a premiership threat since players like Maubs, Cordner, and Friend retired. It is no coincidence that replacing players who bleed RWB with vain social media types has backfired spectacularly. I have no interest in clinging on to these players in the hopes of scraping in as pretenders into another final's series. It was a good time to clean up shop.

Neither wear the RWB and I trust our people on why we released them. We don't have to go to the media and whinge every 5 fkn minutes about it.
May and Sitili were not going to change the course of this year.

              Agreed mate! They're gone...

Also, how difficult is it to believe that Robbo wants Steep, Va'a and Wong (rather than May and Sitili) to all have ~50 games under their belt ahead of the 2026 finals series?

The reason's been given. I don't think there's a parallel world where retaining May and Sitili (plus signing Ben Hunt) woulda given us a win against Brisbane on the weekend. We still woulda been shafted! The GOOD news is that Whyte, Toia, Mark N, Wong, Steep, Dockar-Clay (with Watson at 13) and Foketi ALL notched up either their first game of NRL or another game worth of experience. There will come a time when they've all played ~30-50+ games.

Robbo's got full support from Nick/Bouris for this strategy. But no... apparently throwing a blank cheque at Ben Hunt (probably ruling out Robson in the process, which would be farking dumb!!!) and retaining May/Sitili is smarter. There's a reason why Robbo's our coach!!! He has this magic ability to develop players and long-term strategies.

Now I know who was panic buying a heap of dunny paper and baked beans when lockdowns were announced!!! Some people lack the ability to look forward and be like 'cool the fark down... there will be enough dunny paper so long as you don't all panic and buy 10 packs when some shock jock tells you the world's about to end... I promise!!!'

                • Robbo won a comp with the greatest pure athlete in the history of the sport at the peak of his powers, along with some very astute signings with experience in Maloney and Jenko.

He won B2B with one of the greatest halfbacks to ever play the game and paid top dollar to cherrypick one of the best gun fullbacks in the comp in the same year.

Am I saying that Robbo had nothing to do with the premierships? Of course not. Some of the footy we played and the big games that we won were incredible. Will always be grateful to him for that. But to suggest we won them based off some sort of long-term strategy and investment in youth is ridiculous and revisionist history at its finest. We are in uncharted territory now. We have lost nearly all those squad staples that we developed or purchased over the last decade. We haven't recruited well at all in the last 5 years, which was usually where Robinson set himself apart.

We have not shown we can win anything without the big name players being sprinkled on top of some grafters and good clubman. The big name players either don't want to come to us or aren't available and we've lost the bulk of our grafters and quality clubman over time aswell. The players we have now for the most part are simply not good enough to play the style of footy that we want to play. End of. Head in the sand for so many loyalists here. Should be loyal to the Roosters, not the coach or a pathways system. People aren't choosing May over the team, they are upset because we are a better team with him in it and everyone seems to agree bar our coach, what sadly is the only opinion that matters.

Just sick of this narrative that Robbo always has this long term vision and completely ignoring the fact that all of our success required big signings and quick and ruthless decisions being made. I.e. moving on Pearce, signing Teddy and letting RTS go. In fact he attempted it not long ago with the B. Smith signing and turfing Verrills, except it ended up a failure. We have had too many failures as of late.

I will not stand for any Aubbo slander - the man is a role model in every way
I'm still bitter about James Aubbo in the 2010 GF as well

Don't know him at all. An uneducated opinion. But he has that look. And he definitely has that job.

                        Team snitch.

                        • Now we're bringing Aubbo into the conversation and potentially tarnishing his reputation.

I said it before and I'll say it again.

THIS IS WHY THE CLUB NEEDED TO BE UPFRONT ABOUT MOVING A PLAYER OF MAY'S CALIBRE ON.

                            Exactly.

Im still thinking that nothing dodgy actually happened given the player himself has continually brought it up in the off-season and has been asked numerous times. I think it was generally just a clash of personalities/styles that saw Robbo hit the panic button and send him packing.

Perhaps the explanation given is the actual version of events. Just that its such a shit decision that nobody can seem to accept it at face value.

You'd think if he'd done anything wrong and we agreed to mutually part ways he'd keep his mouth shut and say the most politically correct answer possible or talk through an agent. He hasn't done that and keeps saying how blindsided and disappointed he was.

I think it was genuinely just a clash of personalities/styles that saw Robbo hit the panic button and send him packing. Which I think is a shame and a huge indictment on his coaching/management.

If you're a business owner and 1 of your staff members posted that video on social media what would you do?
