Yes that is correct, well pointed out.
That's two of us for bragging rights at seasons end.

Where will we finish on the ladder? 6th
Who will be our best back ? Teddy (Billy Smith to have a big season though)
Who will be our best forward ? Radley
Who will be the 1st coach to get the boot ? Toss a coin between Adam O'Brien & Benji
      Who will finish last? Eels
Who will be the Chookpens whipping boy? The Butcher bros
Will Robbo get the axe if we don't make the 8 ? No
Will Manu play for the Roosters again ? Unlikely, and if Billy & Toia play to their potential, he won't be missed too much.

Who will be our best forward ? Angus
Who will be the 1st coach to get the boot ? Don’t care.
          Who will finish last? Tigers
Who will be the Chookpens whipping boy? Young. Can’t catch, can’t read defence.
Will Robbo get the axe if we don't make the 8 ? No. The club already knows he needs a superstar roster to win a comp. They haven’t given that to him so expectations are low.
Will Manu play for the Roosters again ? Definately
5 in a row, it wouldnt surprise me.
They will definitely be in the top 4 so they are a good chance of a 5peat.
          Thats incredible if they do.

I will ask the blinds dude who knows a lot about Penrith's training - What surprised me was how much training they do in 10 metre defence drills - The up and back and the speed involved etc - gone away from these yo yo and beep tests which are tests over 20 metres - Defence is about 10 metres not 20 metres so not sure why they do these 20 metre tests?.

For an example you don't train a solely 100 metre runner to run 200 metres races.

Chookpen tips for us 7,5,10,8,6,6,7,7,7,2,5,9,10,17,9,9,9,5,14,6= 158/20...average 8th, most popular pick 7th or 9th...so I think 8th...which really means we are like the other 15 who don't make the grandfinal...also rans and building for better times!

It's about speed endurance. A good way to develop this is to train beyond the target distance. E.g 100 metre sprinters will include 110 meters, 120 metres, 130 metres sprints in their program. This helps them maintain their top speed longer.

In the video the players were jogging - not much pace involved that I could see - The Yo Yo test was invented by a Danish Football Phycologist.

Surely a 10 metre test of pace and endurance going up and back is more suitable to improve that part of the game where D is concerned.

One of the problems with using a different test is that there would be no normative data to compare against for the purposes of program design. The yo yo test has reasonable content validity as a test for rugby league cardiorespiratory fitness because most running efforts end up being more than 10m (eg. Very rarely will you go straight up and back, the bounce for outside backs and halves can often be a full 10m followed by a lateral shift, for middles they need to tie in after getting up, then comes the reload and if the opposition has made post contact metres that will often be greater than 10m that you need to reload then adjust yourself laterally in the line). And that doesn’t factor in other running efforts like push support, running sweep options, kick pressure, kick chase, working back behind the ball, etc. So the yo yo is a valid test. It’s very reliable/repeatable. Shorter distances mean the % of measurement error would be greater (eg. Not quite reaching a cone on a 10m test is a big performance difference compared to not making the cone by the same distance on a 100m test). And finally to my initial point, the yo yo test can be used quite accurately to determine VO2max (the gold standard measure of aerobic fitness). Most teams use a Bronco test still which is a 1.2km time trial with 29 turns. This doesn’t have as good a correlation with VO2max (called criterion validity if you want to fact check). Once you have a good indicator of the player’s VO2max you can do so much with adjusting their training loads and creating the correct training prescription in the first place for positional units within your team.

If the Roosters high performance team decided to design their own test that they felt had better validity than the yo yo it would take years for them to collect enough player data that allowed them to accurately say how well it predicts VO2max (plus they’d need the player to do VO2max tests anyway - which are very expensive). And they’d have nothing to compare against, especially in that first year of running the new test, which means they’d be flying somewhat blind with their prescription and understanding of where individual players are at throughout the season.

                          Hope that has helped mate.

Who will win the comp? Roosters beat Penrith
Where will we finish on the ladder? 4th
Who will be our best back? James Tedesco. And I think we’ll win the Dally M as well with less guys around him for most of the season that will take points off him. If we’re in the top 8 and Newcastle isn’t he’ll be a special.
Who will be our best forward? Victor Radley
Who will be the 1st coach to get the boot? Adam O’Brien
                            Who will finish last? Dragons
Who will be the Chookpens whipping boy? Chad Townsend
Will Robbo get the axe if we don't make the 8? No. I can’t see Nick ever “axing” him. He’ll move into coaching director or general manager of football. And I think he’d step down from the coaching position before Nick had to tap him.
Will Manu play for the Roosters again? Yes. But I hope for Manu’s sake he does at least a full year overseas and perhaps comes back in 2026. He left for the experience by the sounds of it.
