  • Wong to Rugby??

This could be just another off season nothing article or the Joey's going has young guys wondering if the grass is greener in the other code??

It says that Rugby Australia tried to sign him before his last extension. I hope if we do lose anyone else to Rugby that it is made clear that there is no return. We don't want to become the education department for Rugby Australia.

    Thoughts...

Another Joseph Suaalii? League star could spark All Blacks-Wallabies’ bidding war before Rugby World Cup 2027

There is a reason that he was a starter at the beginning of last year and then got hooked in round 2 half way through a game. He only ever came back when we were down on troops. What’s my point? I don’t actually know, but I have the feeling he’s not a great fit for the club. His mates Su, Joey, May and Silly have all moved on too.

Shame as touted as big potential
robbo needs to get it out of him
hopefully not a gun junior that looks amazing at school and lower grades who struggles to commit fully into first grade standard week in week out
rugby really targeting roosters players atm - and always going to happen when many play rugby at gps schools

really hoping he kicks on this year and locks down the other edge spot or lock - depending where radley plays

I honestly don’t miss the R&B gang,I was hoping Wong would flourish without those distractions..

$$$ on offer and players have a short career - It's not NFL and or MLB or even the Euro football leagues where players are paid millions or tens of millions per season.

Can't blame a player for taking the money as who on here wouldn't if on offer.

If the Chooks keep signing guys that have a Rugby background then there will always be the chance they return to Rugby. It’s the same as signing young guys from Qld or NZ there is always the chance they will return to their roots.

Isn't it kinda the opposite? May was moved on because Robbo wanted to focus on Wong et. al.

If we're then claiming Manu was a bad cultural fit then I disagree. IMO he simply got a bit worn out (had done it all with us) and wanted some $$$ & a new challenge.

I’m not suggesting Manu was a bad cultural fit. I think he was part of the furniture.

The article only says that Wong would never rule out a switch to Rugby at some point. I doubt that there would be many NRL players who have played any Rugby who would "rule out" a switch. This is a nothing piece.

There could be a thread on climate change and you would lay some of the blame on Robbo.

What is he actually at fault for here? The article says that Wong has not ruled out a crack at rugby. How is it the coach's fault that he has a rugby background?

Yep we're rebuilding and Wong is part of Robbo's plans moving forward.
