I reckon Dylan Brown could become a top-tier player with the right coach.

Yes Brown's played regular first grade, but Parra are hardly up there with Easts. Also sure he's played for NZ but so what... are we saying he's better than Walker and you'd be happy to dispose of the lowly club-grade Walker for 'the NZ half'? I think not.
Maybe such experience would at least mean he's cool headed and a true professional? Cool but what's the one thing we all remember him for?
> In round 9 of the 2021 NRL season, Brown was placed on report after diving over the top of Sydney Roosters player Drew Hutchison as he was in the act of scoring a try. Hutchison was rushed to hospital during the game with suspected broken ribs and a punctured lung. Brown was later suspended for three weeks over the incident.
IMO it's ridiculous to suggest that our club would not only sack a local junior for him, but would also pay upwards of $1m for the 'pleasure'.
Yes he's more established than a rising youngster who we're not rushing it with. However, so farkin' what? I'd take Hutcho back before signing a grub who disgraced his jersey & family with that BS dog shot for which he only got 3 weeks. At least Hutcho's a quality human being who makes good decision... I'd prefer a guy who takes his sweet farkin' time to make good decisions over a dog [so and so] who makes quick spur of the moment decisions of the class/quality we'll remember him for.
I dare say Uncle Nick's banned the so and so from coming anywhere near our club and rubbished his self-promotion tactics when talking to the papers because he knows we'll never want him and couldn't care less about what it does for his career. Nick's never been this blatant/public about not wanting a guy... he wouldn't just give the papers a targeted sledge like that for no reason IMO.
I'd say Brown at his best is probably similar to Walker but Brown has been able to achieve more. It doesn't make sense to get rid of Walker for Brown because Walker has significant potential and will one day probably represent QLD at halfback and perhaps even Australia. For Sandon though? As I mentioned in a previous post I could see him maybe nailing down a bench utility spot somewhere or being a consistent Super League half but I think that's his limit, hopefully I'm wrong!
I think I mentioned in a previous post but if we don't sign Dylan Brown then there is no long term "star" young halves options. It's just Dylan Brown and a bunch of older halves who are on the verge of retiring, I'd say that's why his price is so high.

Looks like he is off to the Knights for 10 years from 2026 for $14,000,000.
That’s is madness, he isn’t worth that sort of coin.
Not what Parramatta need and doesn’t help the new coaching staff or look favourable on them.
I wonder if that pushes Ponga toward us, I don’t see the Knights committing over $2,500,000 a season on two players.

we are more chance of winning premierships in the next 10 years compared to them.

Ponga's is on 1.1 mill a season plus 300k third parties ( 1.4 mill up to 2027) as has been reported but keen on Rugby too - so won't be going anywhere I suggest
Sandon Smith is on around 200 to 300k.

I've been very supportive of the signing of Dylan Brown in this thread but 13 million dollars over 10 years seems very steep and I read online that apparently this can go up as the salary cap goes higher? Crazy to make Dylan Brown one of the highest paid players in the comp when he probably wouldn't even crack top 10 halves in the comp. I personally have Munster, Luai, Cleary, DCE, Dearden, Moses, Hughes, Reynolds, Hunt and Burton above Brown.
Brown seems like a bit of a Nicho Hynes signing, if he'd gone to the right club and coaches he could be a superstar but Brown will go to Newcastle and most likely just remain stagnant unfortunately.
