Bronco's will smash us...30 points minimum....and that will be just half time.

What a pathetic rabble Trobbo has turned us into...zero succession planning...arguably the worse roster turnover in any off season ever in rooster history.

    #Sack Trobbo.

I never said it isn't an issue, it is, but when our ruck defence looks paper thin and gets blitzed like it did, that's what worries me. Win the ruck/middle and our edge defence will improve.

I hope that we can somehow beat the Broncos but it isn't looking good at all. We've only got one player who would reasonably lock down a spine position in any other competitive team. As others have said Sandon/Townsend are NSW Cup standard and Watson is simply doing his best but is a utility/lock.

Spines win footy games and ours isn't great.

I'm very nervous about round one. The betting agencies have more confidence than I do, before yesterday the line was -3.5 and after the Knight's smashed us it has only drifted two points???

I'm not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater but we should be worried about how easily a team not expected to make the 8 pulled apart our defense.

Your nervous about round 1, I'm worried about 27 rounds....except for the byes...24 games...mmm looking into my crystal ball..first win round 13 against raiders at home and Sam walker returns.

Kotoni Staggs has been ruled out for 4-6 weeks with a quad injury.

Time will tell if Robbo has pulled a royal masterstroke or miscalculated bad.

Maybe takes up 5/6 rounds to get into a gallop.

                A nervous wait game.

Bit of good news for the Chooks.

Trouble is I think Reece Walsh is going to have a field day cutting through our defence & got a feeling Cobbo will have a big one also.

In fairness we would be expected to win the following:

                    Round 4 - Vs Titans

                    Round 5 - Vs Rabbitohs

                    Round 8 - Vs Dragons

                    Round 9 - Vs Dolphins

                    Round 13 - Vs Raiders

                    ---

Once Walker returns, I think we could win 7 games between Round 14 and the finals which would put us at 12 wins for the season which was enough to get the Knights 8th last year.

All the teams you have indicated that you think we’re expected to beat is off the mark, all of those teams are as good as ours.
The Chooks are in for a very long & hard season & to think Walker is going to come in after an ACL & suddenly we click is delusional but good on you for thinking otherwise.

We aren't expected to win any game after the players we've lost, our trial form & Sam Walker being out half the season.

We obviously will but they may be few & far between this year especially if injuries hit.

Might be a season where we aren't favourites in any game.

What is expected though is a good honest effort in each game & none of that rubbish they showed against Newcastle.

Looking forward to see how some of these new additions go in the top grade.

There's no pressure by fans & media due to the high quality experienced personnel thats gone. There's opinion that we aren't a legit top 8 side amongst some.

However with Rd1 v Bronc's around the corner I'm convinced it won't be a happy start to the season.

PRO'S - Written off team eager to impress...playing at home...Rd1 everyone starts new.

CONS - losing a ton of experience...the ending to 2024 was terrible...Sam Walker out...usually look terrible & lose Rd1 games...Broncos want revenge on last year's Rd1 loss to us....Broncos having a new coach & fired up to impress.....Broncos look stronger in most positions than us.

Can anyone add more PROs to counter the CONs?

Before I do I need to know some information.

30 players are listed on Roosters website.
                          Question please:
Are these the only players who can play first grade this year?
Say, before round one, one of the 30 is deemed not suitable for round one, can a player from outside the 30 be selected instead?
                          ...from NSW Cup?

.I am trying to work out how the following system works

                            Top 30
NRL's 1st November requirement 25 players to be listed in Top 30,- (Next requirement is 28 players for R1) then (30 players on the 30th June)
(Note Top 30 Minimum wage $130,000/year)

                            Supplementary list
                            (Maximum 6 players)
Can be used to play in the top grade from round 1 (with following conditions)
                            * If you have injuries in a position that can't be filled within your top 30
                            * Approval from NRL
(the Supplementary Player is then entitled to $3,000 per game on top of his contract) Max earn is $80.000/year
A Supplementary Player can be elevated into the top 30 if there is a vacant spot

                            Train and Trail List
(No limit on number of players on this list)
Only earn $1200/week and $3,000 per game in the NRL,
                            l. Can be used after Round 10
                            2. Train and Trial can also be elevated into the top 30 if there is a vacant spot

NSW CUP / Junior Reps / Pathways etc
Can be elevated into the top 30 if there is a vacant spot
Can be elevated into the Train and Trial if they qualify
Developed players can be elevated into Supplementary List if they qualify

                            -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I guess players on more than $80,000 are either Top 30 or NSW Cup or Junior Reps / Pathways etc (lets say Xavier Va'a who is not on any list at the moment)
Players on more than $80,000 are not eligible for the Supplementary List or if on more than $1200 a week for the Train and Trial List

With the Roosters only needing 28 players for R1 Top 30 squad (only 3 more positions required to fill)
And two more come June 30th
The final selections can be done after Preseason and Trial games for R1 and leave the last couple open and monitor
Maybe the players who are not on any list so far for example Xavier Va'a and Salesi Foketi etc will play NSW Cup or Flegg etc as they do not qualify for Sopplementary or Train and Trial lists and promoted to any vacant Top 30 spot if required.

The post above will shed some light on when NRL top 30 squad requirements including squad numbers required and dates for submission
Some of the players on the teams page you may find are Supplementary Players or possibly train and trial players

Both Va'as are in the 30 listed.
We need one of them to play round 1.
At the end of the Knights trial Wong was playing right centre. I'd leave him there for round 1.

                              Can we beat the Broncos?
Yes, if we play our very best footy.
Broncos would be very hot favourites, I imagine.

Did you see how lethargic and slow Wong was? In my view he’s been in my top 5 worst performers. Gone backwards big time.
with the Va’s, I think you’ll find Xavier (Billy smith of our forward pack) had a leg brace on at the opening night. Can’t play anymore than 5 games a year, another spent force, great junior coming through.
I really liked Foketi and his energy, I’d play him 2nd row and Radley at lock.
where’s this Fanafou Seve? Can’t see him anywhere.
