  • Re-sign or let go?

    http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-l...dney-roosters/
I was looking for our off contract players for next year on the website above, and I realised we have alot of talent still off contract.

Anthony Cherrington, Lama Tasi, Mose Masoe, Anthony Mitchell and Sam Perrett are all off contract. We really need to resign Tasi and maybe Mose (not in good form though). And even though A Mitchell never gets chosen for 1st grade, he sometimes provides spark and is generally quicker than Friend.

Adam Henry (young), Mark Khierallah (age 22) and Jack LittleJohn (21)are all also off contract. THese three undoubtebly have a lot of talent in them, and if Smith wants his 'youth policy' to work we need to resign them.

With all these players off contract, who will Smith re-sign under the salary cap? Or will he leave them all to Develop and become superstars at other teams? I think its better for them if they move on from the Roosters, but better for us if they stay here. Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure Mose announced a 2 year extension at the season launch

I think Masoe has already re-signed.
I reckon Cherro and Tasi will re-sign with Sammy P and Mitchell gooone.
Khierallah should he re-signed but for his sake I hope he leaves and gets a shot elsewhere as Smith is an idiot and won't help his growth (not a dig at his height)

Mose and Tasi have already been re-signed. I would re-sign Cherrington (cheap as chips and is apparently looking very good for Newtown today), Mitchell, Henry (one more year), and Kheirallah (I think he has the potential to be a very good bench option for us next year). All these guys would not be asking much and all have the potential to push up into first grade. At the very least all good depth options.

Perrett is a tough one but he has really lost it since his ankle injury last year. He doesn't have great speed, never competes for contested bombs in defence, his reads in defence are not good although he does have to defend outside SKD, and he doesn't make nearly as many metres per run from dummy half as he used to. If he was re-signed I would only give one year and he would have to smarten up the whole defensive side of his game.

When was Tasi resigned? I asked him a couple of weeks ago on twitter and he said he was off contract.

At the start of the year in Farian's coaching clinic report he said Smith said he was wrapped up for the next two seasons, this one included. Nothing official though so you might be right but I would have thought he would have been a little highre on the priority list than Arona.

Me too. I think Tasi can be very good for us.

Swap LJ with Cherro and I'm happy with that. It would be disappointing to see Sammy P and Mose go but they need to lift alot if that isn't to be the case.

Of that group Perret is the obvious one to let go and maybe Cherrington.

I've only seen one game of Jack LittleJohn, I thought he was impressive. Cherrington is a myth to me.

Fair enough, I haven't seen Cherrington play in a while but we've kept him around for too long to let him go and dominate at another club, worth a one year deal I reckon. Hopefully we keep them both for peanuts and they deliver.

Whatever happened to the incentive contract?
