You were one of a group, along with me who would defend the coach and team stoically. And cop flak for it. This is why I remember not because I scrutinise your posts. I’m curious because you said since 2019?

The team hasn't been a contender since 2019 is what I meant but a group of people on here think we should have been winning or fighting for premierships in that time which is laughable. The only game we've been in the contest with Penrith since the 2019 grand final was in round 1 of 2020 which is a game we should have won but the matches against Penrith and Melbourne have shown they aren't contenders and the team has been steadily getting worse since then and this year we have a lot of young inexperienced kids who will be playing a lot.

I'm not off the coach either I just think this team is nowhere near talented enough to be competing for a finals spot and this is a bottom 4 roster in my eyes and with our start to the year the season could well be over by round 10.

Only a trial But certainly doesn’t look great signs yet Centres defensively need to fix their game - but also coming up against best toia will improve We need Spencer off the bench - he and Whyte were great - still highlights letting May go early as we are down a front rower and come origin time only have Whyte Halves are the biggest concern Without walker we will struggle to score any points - it may feel like 2023 in attack again

some good things but not a lot to like. defence was poor and we don't look potent in attack. bad start being down to 12 men and they ground their way back into the game but a couple of errors from townshend let the pressure off.
bad performance but good to know where we stand. up to the club to turn it around.
we're paying only $20 to win the gf and that's really bad value. still, the goal is to win the comp and we need to try and jag a few wins early and not be knocked out of contention before sammy and cheese come back. it's a long season and trial performance doesn't guarantee anything, either way

There's no hiding the ineptitude of this team. This is seriously comical. Surely Uncle Nick will have to make changes.

I think Robbo has tricked Nick into believing we can waste a season whilst the young guys get some experience and the following year we will go back to premiership contenders..

This was a trial, on a very hot and sunny day.
A carnival type atmosphere.
Round one, at night, at cauldron Allianz will be much different.
This debacle against the Knights was actually a good thing.
Shows where we need to improve.

It depends what you would consider a contender. I think the gulf in class has grown between a lot of the teams and we have been in that upper tier without ever really looking like winning the comp, apart from going on a miracle run at the right time. The consistency hasn't been there.

I can only speak for myself but I 100% believe with the squad we have had since 2019, we should be at the very least seriously challenging for the premiership. Truth is though we have been so far off the pace from Penriff and Melbourne in that time that anything else we have done is really irrelevant against the metric of winning the comp. Correction to your previous comment, we came close in the first week of finals out at Penrith, ended up losing to them by a point in the 1st vs 4th.

It's now gotten to the point slowly that we are definitely no longer a premiership contender with the squad we have, we are miles off it and we haven't adapted to the rule changes or addressed the recurring issues we've had in the last 5 years. That falls on the coach imo.

JWH, Sitili and May should still be in the team Imo. Our pack was embarrassing today! Our depth is also abysmal so what happens when we're hit by injuries and suspensions?

The planning that has gone into this years squad is an absolute joke!
