  • We'll need a new five-eighth.

Sorry but Sandon Smith doesn't have what it takes to help us win a comp. There's no spark, no nous and zero confidence. He's a nice lad but I can't see him being our long term 6.

Tbh, I saw a reasonable bit of him in lower grades and he never really stood out there. But it was a small sample…

We need a big name to partner Walker in the halves in 2026.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

If our forwards are not laying a decent platform our halves have no chance I didn’t watch the game against Newcastle but looking at the highlights our pack leaves a lot to be desired

This is it. There was no intensity from the start from the big boys.

S Smith was definitely not our worse player today by far.

          I will stay positive.

Good attacking 5/8's are the icing on the cake.

Doesn't matter how good your 5/8 is unless you're playing enough football in the right positions on the field and that comes down to your forwards (and outside back yardage in the modern day game) and halfback. Even Tedesco looked second rate today.

Jonathan Thurston and the Cowboys were a testament to that.

It takes 17 players to win a game and a squad of players to win a comp.

I back Sandon to do the job required and more importantly so does Coach Robinson,

Didn't Thurston play halfback for the Cowboys?

We are in deep trouble with Chad Townsend and Sandon Smith as our halves..

Not surprising that we are struggling to score points, even against weaker teams..

More so out of necessity than because it was his best position. He's a natural second receiver, and whilst they converted him into a 7 he saw his best success when he played with more natural organisers like Cooper Cronk & Michael Morgan.

Thurston is the best creator I've ever seen play the game, if he had a better number 7 to take the pressure of organising and last plays away from him I think the Cowboys would've won so many more premiserhips than just the one which is my point, you can find the best creator in the game but means squat unless you've got your foundations right. Matt Scott, Tamou & Taumalolo for the go forward, Morgan for the organisation and then you can just let Thurston shine.

We need to forward so we piss off May but we got Chad.
Recruitment was piss poor and sure not many decent buys around...but recruitment is in the end down to the coach.

Plan B, C & D are sitting in our lower grades.

We are not short on talented halves or middles coming through the club at the moment.
