  • According to the Daily Telegraph two NRL Clubs have offered Brown 13 million dollars over 10 years.

One Club is Newcastle. The other Club wishes to remain anonymous.

I really hope it's not us.

The Roosters seem to like this method as they've done it with Napa, Jennings and others in the past.
Then why not sign Chad in a coaching position? Napa and Jennings did Sweet FA for us when coming back. Jennings again was so obviously off the pace, yet we haven't learnt our lesson from that experience.

          For example by signing:

          - Robson at #9 after Cheese failed to impress (though Cheese was a massive coup in terms of actual signing power)... yeah we coulda kept Verrills but management had to make a call and they got who they wanted both times around despite significant competition

          - Watson on unders and getting an Origin player

          - Dom Young (defence sux but again... massive coup and a ridiculously good athletic specimen)

          - Mark N after Sua'ali'i left (two ridiculously good physical specimens there)

          - Walker locking himself in long-term

          - The Va'a brothers and Whyte being close to hitting their straps (still green but faaarkin good to have on our books)

          - Developing guys like Sandon and Toia

I get people are worried this year because JWH, Manu, Keary, Sua'ali'i and May are gone. I also get that the David Fifita and Ben Hunt scenarios were embarrassing. However, IMO calling our overall success with recruitment shyzenhouzen is bollocks.

We've made some massive signings and retained a wealth of quality players. The cruise ship sets sail next Thursday... peeps just gotta relax!!!

            He's a top player.

Is POS working with the Knights?

                • Ethan Strange started last year the same as this year, looks a world beater, yeah we missed out on him bla bla bla. After 5 rounds last year Stuart punted him, as he was caught out of position a lot and missed tackles a regular occurrence in his game. Stuart said he needed a rest due to the pressures of first grade for a young guy. He’s the same as Sandon Smith, with room to move he looks good, but poor missed tackles and decisions creep into there games and pressure builds, last year Ethan couldn’t handle it. No loss.

There needs to be an investigation?

But yes agreed, it's not pretty reading at all.

                      • Part of the reason is that the Roosters is no longer a club that players want to join. We got rejected by Fafita, Ben Hunt and even Dane Gagai in the past 12 months. Maybe we offer unders, hoping that the Roosters name and reputation will be enough to convince players to reject better coin from elsewhere. It worked for a time but not anymore.

In retrospect the back to back squad probably had more to do with him than anyone else.

Robbo's decisions since he left have been poor.

                          • Posting what players were signed doesn't tell the whole story though as the contract value of the existing squad players contracts from those years would determine what wriggle room cap wise the club would have each year to sign any new players.

The 14 below would have taken up a fair chunk of the cap in 2020 which was 9.8 million total (includes MV allowance and Vet/Developed player allowance) - Min wage 110k

Clubs are not going to sign a whole bunch of external players each year - Develop and promote internally with strategic external signings when required and affordable is the key.

                            • I know I'm going to get shot down, cursed, lambasted etc....but, IF Schuster can knuckle down, become mature and more professional he would be a revelation alongside small Sam Walker.

O'Sullivan was de-registered in 2016 - Was at the Storm during their "flexible" salary cap period as well.

The Roosters recruitment team do a very good job - not just about NRL player signings - Both Central Coast and Sydney Roosters Junior rep sides are chock full of promising youngsters from Greater Sydney/Regional NSW/QLD and Overseas (NZ) - both Men's and Women's sides.
