In the NSW Cup trial last week a Newcastle winger intercepted the ball and was tearing down the sideline, Hugo gave chase and tackled him over the side line just inches from the tryline. It was very impressive. He has some speed.

As some have mentioned, it's a balancing act with bleeding youngsters like Hugo, Rodwell, Elliott and even Toia. The team will not do well this year. Emotions will be high. The youngsters will make mistakes.

If our senior players and forwards aren't delivering, the first to suffer will be the young players sorting themselves out and finding their feet. If we as a fan base can have the collective patience to watch them make errors, lose us games but have a chance to prove themselves, then it'll be a good season from that point.

We cannot expect young players to come in and be like Sam Walker and win us games on his own. Mainly because Sam is a special talent and rare and also because the team he walked into was a lot stronger and more experienced than the team we are going to be running out with this season.

Townsend signing is good for one thing and thats to shield rookies from criticism. However if we are playing utter shite with him in the side and we are miles away from the 8, we may as well just give Rodwell, Elliott and co. a chance and banish Townsend to NSW Cup or just make him official team Vlogger.

Were there any good performances in the NSW Cup trial last week? How did Taylor Lasalu go and other forwards?

Ethan King was best on ground
Reece Foley setup a few tries
            Max McCathie runs hard
Tyreece Tait will be one of the best wingers in the comp in a few years

I know I said I’d give it 6 weeks to see how out number 7 goes.
              I'm planning ahead.

if we are going to waste 6 weeks we should just go for it.
              Blood some young guys.
How much have you seen of him playing?

Look at the roster. He has no choice.

No one player/participant wins games on their own in a team sport -The only time that happens is in individual sports i.e Tennis and Golf for Instance or in individual heats in sports such as Swimming and Athletics.

You need 17 players to win an NRL game and a Squad to win a comp - All players playing their part and performing the role they are required to do week in and week out for whatever time they are on the field.

Penrith are not a team/squad full of superstars and or special talents - they play consistent quality footy as a 17 player team for 80 minutes week in and week out.

I'm with you Moose. I can see him becoming a ball playing second rower. I won't mind seeing him off the bench throughout the year. Esp if it gets to a stage where we are going nowhere near the finals.
