  • Roosters announce 2025 NRL Leadership Structure

The Sydney Roosters have today announced the Club’s senior leadership structure for the 2025 NRL season.

James Tedesco will continue as captain, with Lindsay Collins and Victor Radley appointed vice-captains.

Tedesco, who has led the Roosters with distinction since assuming the role in 2021, remains at the helm, bringing invaluable experience, leadership, and passion to the squad.

Collins and Radley, both integral members of the squad, step into official vice-captaincy roles, reinforcing the Club’s commitment to strong leadership on and off the field.

Roosters Head Coach Trent Robinson expressed his confidence in the trio, highlighting their influence within the playing group and their alignment with the Club’s values.

“James has been an outstanding leader for our Club. He is highly respected, and his professionalism and drive set the standard for those around him,” said Robinson.

“Lindsay and Victor bring tremendous energy and commitment, and their leadership qualities continue to grow. We have a strong group of players who understand what it means to represent the Sydney Roosters, and this leadership group will play a key role in driving our standards in 2025,” he added.

The senior leaders will be supported by the Club’s Playing Leadership Group which also includes Connor Watson, Angus Crichton, Nat Butcher, Spencer Leniu, Sam Walker and Chad Townsend.

Chad Townsend lol. That really cheapens the honor of being in the leadership group. Even Leniu is a bit suss given he's played no more than 15 games for us.

No surprises with Lindsay and Rads being made VCs.
Regarding the leadership group, I like the idea of Conner and Nat being it in. Regarding the others.... just as long as everyone buys into the club and team culture while always driving the same standards.
I'm still concerned by JWH's departure. Looking from the outside in, it appeared that he drove the standards better than anyone over the last couple of years.

Rads should be give the Captaincy, he's the type you need with young blokes coming through. He's inspirational and could just be what's needed to lift intensity and desire , especially defensively.

          Agree with that.

          Leniu & Townsend?

What about a well respected club legend like Daniel Tupou?

What about Sam Walker ! Better option than Chad and Spencer . He is the future of the club.

Yeah, 15 seasons in first grade and 250+ games, what would Townsend possibly know about leadership. Like he'd be able to help the younger players in any way. It's just ridiculous.

So farking what? Leadership skills and skills in general can actually be learned at other clubs. When you buy a player from another club you're buying what they've achieved elsewhere, and hoping they can bring that to your club and add value. If the club views him as being suited a leadership role here, then that's good. You are clueless.

It's the Roosters gap year so it doesn't really matter.

Settle down chief, no need to sook. You can have a difference of opinion it won't hurt.

There are a number of players that've played more games for us than he has, and I believe they would be better suited to a leadership role. Good to back the existing system and crop we have. I also don't think he's very good, at least he hasn't been the last 2-3 seasons. I'm questioning his value.

Good to know Chad has a few subscribers to his YouTube channel on this forum though, good for morale. Lol.

Except it's not based on how many games you've played..., and you wouldn't have any idea who'd be better suited to a leadership role.

The coaching staff and the players and the people at the club around Townsend every day at training have said - we want him in the leadership group. How the fark would you know better?

It's the start of a new season for farks sake. Every club and its supporters have hope. Not that you are one. Stop being such a dismal negative hate-filled fool.
