Townsend has plenty of NRL experience and him being in the leadership group and not knowing the Rooster way will make no difference.
    I'm ok with it

The coaching staff and the players and the people at the club around Townsend every day at training have said - we want him in the leadership group. How the fark would you know better?

It's the start of a new season for farks sake. Every club and its supporters have hope. Not that you are one. Stop being such a dismal negative hate-filled fool.

Ugh, such a boring and tired trope. Another pleb on here who doesn't understand the concept of a footy forum yet actively participates in one. Absolutely nobody on here would be in a better position than anyone in the inner sanctum to make calls. That's obvious. We don't know any of the players. We aren't in the team, we aren't at training.

We make claims and formulate opinions based off their on-field performance and overall contribution to our club. As crazy as it seems, sometimes these opinions dont align with others. Is this news to you? Its worrying I have to explain this concept.

If you want to act like an 8 year old and play the "I love them more than you" game, and not formulate any actual opinion and use most of your time lashing out and trying to claim superiority over others then that's on you buddy.

And I appreciate that opinion, even though I tend to disagree. He would be a great professional to be able to play so many NRL games and will probably help in that department. On-field though, I really struggle to see his value.

I personally think if we are underpeforming he should make way for a younger player to learn the ropes in the halves, so long as we have patience with the youngster.

There are a number of players that've played more games for us than he has, and I believe they would be better suited to a leadership role. Good to back the existing system and crop we have. I also don't think he's very good, at least he hasn't been the last 2-3 seasons. I'm questioning his value.

Good to know Chad has a few subscribers to his YouTube channel on this forum though, good for morale. Lol.
A leopard never changes his spots mun. Can’t believe this rock spider got another chance here.

The best he has to offer is experience , so if Sandon fires and holds his jumper we are better off then last year when Keary went down late in the season.
Townsend would handle the situation better than Sandon did last year when thrown in the deep end one would hope.
if he only plays a few games I'd be happy.
The leadership role has a fair bit more to do with just playing imo.

By that same view in the workplace a leader from another (but essentially the same) company needs to come in and start at the bottom. Or a deputy principal at a different school needs to come in as a junior teacher at a new one?

In some instances I find that to be a good model to use. I think you need to back the system you're in. The Roosters system has been very successful in comparison to most other clubs. It should be an honour for Chad to wear our colors, certainly not the other way round.

The examples you use rely on the subject to be a high performer and achiever, which of course would warrant recognition regardless of where they are coming from. I don't think Chad has displayed those traits in the last 5 years.

Fair call. Whatever I think of Towsends ability, I definitely agree he would be beneficial in developing Sandon off the field and bringing him up to speed with the NRL environment.

                      Leniu & Townsend?

What about a well respected club legend like Daniel Tupou?
Toops is a man of few words though.

I still give one of my mates stick about Toops as he was part of the retention and recruitment team at Parramatta who passed on Toops- I think he played 22 games or so in 2 years of NYC at Parramatta.

Too Tall Clumsy and uncoordinated -has problems holding the ball in tackles when pushed backwards and defusing grubber kicks - often knocking these on due to his height which is a liability . Not someone that can be developed any further to NRL standard.

True - That was some of their reasoning

I said didn't anyone ever think his height could be an advantage with those attacking kicks close to the try line

Rock Spider eh? You're calling me a child molester because I post something that differs on your views about the Roosters? That means I'm a child molester?

                        You utter grub and lowlife.

Get back on your meds. You’re the grub that constantly takes pot shots at everyone. You couldnt even last a few weeks back after been given a second chance before your psychotic nature came straight back.

Do us all a favour and **** off back under a rock.

seems an uncontroversial group. teddy's a much better skipper than he gets credit for, a great lead from example skipper with better communication skills than two rooster legends, boydy and jake. rads and collins are obvious picks. the other guys will all have something to offer.
it's the kind of decision you can only really make when you're in the inner circle, seeing how players react to each other

Townsend makes sense. As does Gus, Butcher, Watson and Walker.

Townsend is an older head, articulate & well spoken, and as far as NRL players go he is highly intelligent. Plus he has won a comp at half.

Spencer is an odd choice. Can't understand the rationale there.
