I really do respect the bloke for his efforts and service's to the club, I just think he's not up to modern day standards is all.

If it's his decision to go then fair enough, but if we're pushing him for the sake of half a years salary it's poor.

He can still finish up at Newtown and have his day back in 1sts on round 26 though.

This post sums up the chookpen. Nobody rates Sam but everyone wants to keep him. You can't have it both ways kiddies.

    • So when are we going to hear something OFFICIAL from the club if this is true?

        How is he an embarrassment?

It is his first season in the AFL. It takes years to transform your body into that of an AFL player and to learn the game. He needs to build his engine. He has done enough in the games he has played to show he can take a strong mark and dispose of the ball. His positional play needs work but that will take time.

He is playing up front, a bit difficult to kick goals when the inside 50's are non existent.

K Hunt has improved out of sight, and Izzy will too.

I already followed the AFL but go out of my way to tune in when the Suns and Giants are playing to see how the league boys are doing. I imagine plenty more are doing the same. This is why they were signed, not to be superstars in the first or second year of their contracts. The AFL looks long term. A quality organisation.

The fact we are talking about this on a League forum seems to make it a pretty worthwhile investment. It's chicken feed to the AFL.

            Anyway, back on topic.

If it's for another clubs benefit then yes, i do want it both ways.

He can play for Newtown until the last round then start his next pre-season under Dessie.

He will be back in the NRL by next year at the very latest.

Disgraceful for the club to release the "clubman". Yet you are quite happy to have him sitting in Newtown for the rest of the year?

I think people reading too much into this and should wait and see what unfolds.

                      • Just as an aside, I believe he is the last of our undefeated 2004 Flegg side.

Oh how bright our future looked in 2004.

                          • Im dissapointed with how Perrett has been treated .... Being one of the solid wingers in the whole comp and one of our only remaining snr players who puts his worth in every week we havent shown any loyalty and for that reason I wish him all the best at bulldogs.

I hope that this doesnt come back to bite us in the ass and that we have enough time to blood another decent winger that will be 1st grade experienced and ready to go next season.

I don't think you or anyone on here knows exactly how he has been treated, poorly or otherwise. For all we know he may simply have received a better offer which was conditional upon him joining this year. The Roosters may be doing the right thing by him, knowing he is not in the clubs long term plans.

No one will question the effort Sam puts in and the influence he has around the club, but at the end of the day he is not a walk up starter for a first grade wing spot, and he certainly won't be for the duration of his next contract. With the right recruitment and or development, he was only ever going to be a squad player in the coming years.
