The Roosters may be doing the right thing by him, knowing he is not in the clubs long term plans.

No one will question the effort Sam puts in and the influence he has around the club, but at the end of the day he is not a walk up starter for a first grade wing spot, and he certainly won't be for the duration of his next contract. With the right recruitment and or development, he was only ever going to be a squad player in the coming years.
    Brilliantly put mate.

I hope that this doesnt come back to bite us in the ass and that we have enough time to blood another decent winger that will be 1st grade experienced and ready to go next season.
So would you have wanted Easts to offer him a 3 year contract, because that's what it sounds like the Dogs have offered?? Mario said we only offered him a 1 year deal, very wise IMO, why would you offer him more than 1 year? Good on Sammy for looking after his future & taking the Dog's money, the Dog's are ravaged by injuries this season, so they've probably offered him more than he would have ever thought anyone would offer him, at this point in his career, but only if he came now! Even if it's only $150 - 200k a year, he's not worth that, but he is obviously worth something like that if you're a club with no wingers!

      • Like Inu,

Sam will make a valuable contribution to the dogs injury woes...

Due to the club's useless offer to his younger brother as well as given the green light to leave if he finds an option, which he has...

good luck Sam but RTS (played for Newtown) in preparation is ready to take his place at fullback & Mini can keep company with SKD

Jus need Tamou to return next year & that'll do me, no need for SBW...although he is free from the Blacks & the Chiefs end of this season...

Good bye Mitchell, good luck with Thurston & enjoy!!!

If Perrett Jnr signs with them then you will see who Dessy really wanted.

Last time we did the family thing was to keep Micky Paia.

hardly surprising. his talent aside, its not like we have a lack of quality frontrowers. he also is yet to play 20s so who knows how far he will do. Fair enough by the club imo

                      • we can't keep everybody.

I have always stood up for Perret and to this day think he is one lf the most underrated players in the NRL.

Lets hope the SBW deal gets announced soon and that we sign a top quality winger.

                            • You can't say Perrett isn't a try-scorer/finisher.. He's never put in situations where he has to finish except countless bombs ? We saw him finish a great try against knights where he beat 3 at the same time easily.. Burst right through them.. The dogs will use him properly and we'll see the true Sammy P, we're gonna all be thinking "Where did that come from".

Plus I have inside info about the deal. As much as I hate to say it, it's a 110% done deal. Perrett will be a bulldog this year or next year. After being told he wasn't in the future plans of the roosters squad, he had permission to look elsewhere and was encouraged to do so. Perrett was very disappointed because he has wanted to be a 1-club man his whole career and he knows how hard he tries week in week out and him knowing his not wanted by a club he's been so loyal too has made him very angry at roosters management especially Smith.

Believe it or not it's true. You saw it here first !

If you saw how many times Carney wanted to kick behind the line on Pez' side of the field only to realise that Pez would be too slow then you would understand why.

110%. Does that mean Pez has been playing for the dogs already? Is that why it appeared like we threw the dogs game?
